Job Summary:
The HVAC Duct Technician is responsible for the fabrication, installation, maintenance, and repair of ductwork systems used in heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. This role requires a strong understanding of HVAC principles, blueprint reading, and the ability to work with various materials and tools to ensure efficient and effective duct systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Duct Fabrication:
- Measure, cut, and assemble sheet metal and other materials to create ductwork according to specifications and blueprints.
- Use tools such as shears, snips, brakes, and rollers to shape and form duct components.
- Ensure all fabricated ducts meet industry standards and project requirements.
- Installation:
- Install ductwork in residential, commercial, and industrial buildings, ensuring proper fit and alignment.
- Connect ducts to HVAC units, vents, and other system components.
- Seal joints and seams to prevent air leaks and ensure system efficiency.
- Maintenance and Repair:
- Inspect existing duct systems for damage, wear, and inefficiencies.
- Perform repairs and replacements of damaged or worn duct components.
- Clean ducts to remove debris, dust, and other contaminants that could affect air quality and system performance.
- System Testing:
- Test installed or repaired duct systems for proper airflow, pressure, and leakage.
- Use diagnostic tools and equipment to identify and resolve issues.
- Ensure systems comply with local codes and regulations.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Follow all safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Adhere to building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Customer Service:
- Communicate effectively with clients to explain work performed and provide recommendations for system improvements.
- Address client concerns and ensure satisfaction with completed work.
