Role Purpose


  • The Heritage Spatial Design and Architecture Manager is responsible for creating distinguished spatial designs and architectural solutions at NEOM sites and the Heritage Center. In collaboration with relevant departments within NEOM, this role ensures the efficient realization and continuous improvement of these designs, integrating heritage elements to establish a harmonious blend of historical and contemporary narratives in NEOM’s architecture

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES



Key Responsibilities


  1. Research and implement global best practices in heritage spatial design to continuously refine and enhance NEOM's architectural experiences.
  2. Develop and execute architectural design strategies with clear, measurable KPIs to ensure alignment with NEOM's heritage goals.
  3. Adapt design strategies in response to evolving market needs, stakeholder feedback, and architectural trends.
  4. Build and maintain strong partnerships with local and international architectural bodies to expand NEOM's heritage architectural outreach.
  5. Oversee the development of designs in regional masterplans for areas related to heritage according to defined narratives, historical, and archaeological finds to ensure authenticity, relevance, and alignment with NEOM’s heritage objectives.
  6. Lead the integration of architectural and spatial design principles in conservation processes, balancing the preservation of historical integrity with the progressive vision of NEOM.
  7. Guide restoration efforts, incorporating innovative design elements to ensure heritage sites are reflective of history and adapted to contemporary needs and trends.
  8. Create diverse and innovative architectural solutions that cater to varied interests and align with the goals of NEOM Heritage, i.e. public art, public realm
  9. Act as the primary liaison between the NEOM Heritage and other NEOM sectors / departments to ensure seamless execution of heritage architectural projects and designs
  10. Explore and implement digital tools and emerging technologies, including AR and VR, to enhance the representation and experience of designs..
  11. Conduct regular analysis of feedback and data to refine design strategies and maximize engagement with architectural spaces.
  12. Identify gaps in architectural design and relevant topics, implement corrective actions, and recommend changes based on feedback and global trends.
  13. Maintain detailed reports on design engagement, challenges faced, and opportunities identified, ensuring transparency.
  14. Collaborate with marketing, PR, and Culture and Entertainment events teams to promote heritage architecture with unified branding and promotional strategies.
  15. Review and update training materials regularly, ensuring the team is equipped with the latest knowledge and tools in heritage spatial design and architecture.

Risk Management  


  • Identify, assess, and monitor risks associated with spatial design and architectural projects, proposing corrective actions to mitigate and address potential challenges, ensuring the integrity and success of heritage developments

BACKGROUND, SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS



Knowledge, Skills and Experience


  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Heritage Conservation, Urban Planning, Cultural Studies, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in heritage spatial design, architectural solutions, and project development, with a focus on the conservation and restoration of heritage sites.
  • Demonstrable experience managing and executing complex heritage or architectural projects, integrating innovative design elements and conservation principles.
  • Solid understanding of architectural and design best practices, with the ability to develop and implement strategies that enhance heritage sites.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships or collaborations with local and international architectural bodies and related sectors.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills for effective collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Ability to adapt to evolving market needs, stakeholder feedback, and architectural trends and integrate feedback into actionable improvements.
