The project:


This is an opportunity to work on one of the largest programmes in Saudi Arabia. This unique project consists of major mixed-use development including sports facilities, entertainment, and arts along with all associated infrastructure.


Mace is currently providing programme management and looking for high-calibre experienced professionals to lead integrated teams throughout each phase of the project.


Responsible for the operational leadership of health, safety and wellbeing (HSW) in a designated business/portfolio of work.


Accountable for influencing, building, maintaining, and strengthening internal and external stakeholder relationships and where applicable, lead and develop teams.

You’ll be responsible for:


  • Assuring the assessment, management and mitigation of risk in accordance with regulation and business standards. 
  • Drives change through communication, persuasion, engagement and innovation.
  • Supports the integration of the operational HSW job family into an efficient, effective and cohesive team.
  • Monitors and reports on performance, provides advice, guidance and expertise as needed.
  • Translates business strategy and objectives into local business plan(s).
  • Collaborates with operational directors to deliver cost-effective and efficient performance.
  • Develops and delivers agreed local business plan(s) to time, quality and budget.
  • Supporting succession planning and career development activities for team(s). 
  • Collaborates with the assurance function in the pursuit of continuous improvement.
  • Engages and influences identified business and industry stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely and effective escalation of non-compliance issues they are unable to influence or achieve a satisfactory conclusion to. Manages a large team (or several teams) of direct reports, driving the appropriate behaviours to achieve success and key performance indicators (KPIs), including a continuous improvement culture.
  • Provides performance management, technical and career development and coaching.

You’ll need to have:


  • A bachelor's degree.
  • A professional HS&E qualification, i.e., NEBOSH IGC or diploma. Or other HS&E diploma recognised by Saudi Council of Engineers.
  • Relevant HS&E training certificates.
  • Awareness of KSA laws.
  • Certified First Aider.
  • HSW, legislation and delivery relevant to the sector and industry.
  • Implementation and development of management systems and the certification process.
  • Assurance and audit strategies.
  • Risk management and mitigation work in a major organisation.
  • Assessing the competency of team members, applying their competence to the right roles, and creating development plans.
  • Understanding of enterprise and project risk management.
  • Being able to present a range of technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Proven experience leading and managing health, safety and wellbeing in a large complex organisation and achieving key results.
  • Advanced knowledge and application of relevant legislation.
