Job Summary:

The Handyman in Civil, Carpentry, and Painting is responsible for performing general maintenance and repair work in the areas of civil works, carpentry, and painting to ensure safe and efficient operations of facilities. The role involves completing preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing minor damages and structural issues within buildings and facilities under the O&M department’s purview.

Civil Works:

• Conduct general repairs and maintenance of building infrastructure, including flooring, wall repairs, ceiling work, and basic plumbing.
• Repair cracks, patch holes, and apply masonry techniques to restore structural integrity.
• Perform minor repairs on doors, windows, and other fittings.

Carpentry:

• Execute carpentry tasks, including repairing and installing furniture, doors, and windows.
• Measure and cut materials to specifications, and assemble structures and fixtures when needed.
• Ensure structural soundness and safety in all carpentry repairs and installations.

Painting:

• Perform surface preparation for painting, including sanding, priming, and applying sealants.
• Apply paints, varnishes, or other finishes to walls, furniture, and other surfaces.
• Conduct touch-up work and repaint as necessary to maintain aesthetic standards.

Preventive Maintenance:

• Carry out regular inspections and preventive maintenance tasks in areas of expertise.
• Identify potential issues, report findings, and recommend corrective actions to ensure facility safety and functionality.
• Document all maintenance activities accurately and in a timely manner.

Health & Safety Compliance:

• Adhere to safety regulations and protocols, including the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Ensure that all work is performed in compliance with safety, environmental, and health standards.
• Report any hazards or risks identified during maintenance tasks.

Collaboration & Communication:

• Coordinate with other maintenance staff, contractors, and the O&M supervisor to complete tasks efficiently.
• Provide updates on work progress, challenges, and completed tasks.
• Maintain positive relationships with colleagues and facility occupants.
