Job Description

1. JOB DETAILS:


Position Title: Senior Geologist


Broad Band: M10: Professional


Talent Pipeline Layer: Managing Self Expert Consultant (MS)


2. OVERALL JOB PURPOSE:


The purpose of the job is to study the composition, structure, and other physical aspects of the Earth, applying geological, physics, and mathematics knowledge, and provide original and innovative solutions in exploration of metals and minerals within the Geoscience discipline. This would include the Design, schedule, budget and execution of grade control and resource evaluation programmes. The incumbent will supervise and direct mine geologists, geotechnicans, drilling contractors in the execution of programmes and be accountable for the management of health and safety in programmes under your supervision in accordance with statutory legal requirements and Ma'aden HS&E standards and procedures.

The incumbent would be the ‘Competent Person’ for Ma’aden public reporting of ‘Exploration Results’ in accordance with JORC Code 2012 or international equivalent


3. QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:


Qualification:


1. Bachelors Degree in Earth Science related discipline
2. Eligible for registration as a professional geologist


Experience:


1. 8 years' experience as Geologist
2. Proven experience in open pit and/or underground mine geology
3. Proven experience in structurally complex gold epithermal systems - desirable


Skills:


1. Strong understanding of health and safety risks and safe operating procedures in operations [essential] in remote desert environment [desirable]
2. Senior first aid certificate [essential]
3. Demonstrable commitment to health and safety
4. Strong working knowledge [five years] of targeted mineral deposit type
5. Computer literacy in Office suites including MS Project and Team as well as mining software e.g. Acquire, ArcGIS, ioGas, Leapfrog, Vulcan, MicroMine, Surpac, Datamine
6. Strong competence in data management and QAQC
7. Strong knowledge of ore control practices and ability to implement best industry standards if required
8. Business and Technical report writing
9. Understanding of the reporting of Mineral Resources in accordance with JORC Code 2012 (desirable)
10. Resource estimation methodology
11. Verbal, written, analytical and influencing skills in English

1. Plan, execute and ensure that drilling programs are in line with operational requirements
2. Development and active monitoring of grade control drilling programs with the aim of continually improving the geological modelling, grade control processes and resource and estimation modelling.
3. Responsible for the reconciliation between the mine production, mineral resource and mineral reserves
4. Active in the development of drilling programs that add to the mineral resource, replenish ore reserve depletion and identified possible near mine targets.
5. Involved in the ranking of near mine drilling targets and the strategic direction of any near mien exploration activities
6. Supervise and direct mine geologists, geotechnicians, drilling contractors in the performance of drilling programmes
7. Design, schedule, budget and execute drilling and evaluation programmes
8. Analyse, interpret and report programme results, data QAQC drilling programmes
9. Evaluate near mine exploration targets including target ranking'
10. Provide senior level technical advice to the Chief Geologist, Principal Geologist, Geology Manager and Senior Director Geology, and direction to mine geologists, geotechnicians
11. Monitor, evaluate and report the performance of personnel reporting to the senior geologist role
12. Train, coach and mentor direct reports in technical and safety aspects of their roles
13. Apply current industry best practice in grade control practices, mapping, geological modelling, reconciliation and QAQC
14. Self & team consistently meets targets, due dates and quality standards (production, service, advice, etc.)
15. Ensure knowledge and compliance with health, safety and environment statutory and regulatory requirements
16. Ensure knowledge and compliance with applicable Ma'aden HSE codes, policies, procedures and practices

1. Sound proficiency in the management of the exploration programme on a project or mine-encompassing data verification, core description and updating of the geological model
2. Sound modelling expertise to build a geological model from first principles
3. Sound competency applying relevant software (e.g. analytical, scientific, design, data base & query, data conversion, map creation, document management, etc)
4. Sound knowledge and competency applying geoscience principles, various geological techniques, procedures, equipment and devices
5. Sound knowledge of the attributes of ores, soil, minerals, etc.
