Mine Geologist III
OVERALL, JOB PURPOSE:
Support geological activities in open pit and underground mining operations, ensuring efficient and safe extraction of minerals. Report to the Senior Geologist
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
Qualification:
Bachelor's degree in Geology
Experience:
2- 3 years’ Experience in open pit mining operations.
Skills:
- Technical report writing, problem-solving, Data analysis, Communication.
- Knowledge of Mine Safety Regulations and Industry Best practices.
- Computer skills in: Geovia Surpac, Leapfrog and MS Office Software package.
- knowledge of relational databases, technology and industry standards and best practices regarding the collection, storage.
- Production Geology.
- Safety awareness and attitude.

Operational / Functional
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Participate in safety training and promote a safe working environment.
- Conduct geological mapping and sampling of the open pit mine.
- Assist in the collection and analysis of geological data.
- Manage the sampler and the spotter on site, collect data, and write reports at the end of the shift.
- Perform Ore markups.
- ROMPAD supervision to make sure that the bleeding plan is executed
- Assist the Senior Mine Geologist for the grade control prediction, BMM and daily mine operation reporting
- Assist the mine geologist for RC grade control drilling planning
- Manage the daily RCGC site and make sure the sample quality is in place
- Perform RCGC logging, follow up with lab for sample dispatch and database validation.
- Provide geological expertise to ensure optimal mining practices.
- Use geological software to analyze and interpret data
- Maintain accurate records of geological findings and prepare reports.
- Collaborate with mining engineers and other professionals on site.
- Collect the weekly geology report and compile them into one report and monthly operations data.
- External mapping and interpretation of geological structures
- Maps underground and open pit mines developments including raises, stops etc. in accordance with established standards.
- Interprets gathered data/information, logs and samples borehole drill cores utilizing accepted geological techniques.
- Support model-mine-mill reconciliation and use results to drive improvements in Resource Models.
- Monitor, evaluate and report the performance of direct reports.
- Monitor, evaluate and apply current industry technical and operational best practice in the field of geosciences.
- Organize processes of geological support for all the mines.
