Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Maintenance Technician

We are seeking an experienced Gas-Insulated Switchgear (GIS) Maintenance Technician to join our dynamic team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overhauling, maintenance, and servicing of GIS equipment across various voltage levels, including medium, high, extra-high, and ultra-high voltage systems.

• Electrical Maintenance:
  

  
  
  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance on GIS equipment.
    
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues within GIS systems.
    
  • Conduct electrical tests such as insulation resistance, contact resistance, and high-voltage withstand tests.
    
  • Interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and control circuits.
    

• Mechanical Maintenance:
  

  
  
  • Disassemble and reassemble mechanical components of GIS equipment.
    
  • Use precision measurement tools like micrometers and torque wrenches.
    
  • Identify and rectify mechanical defects and wear.
    

• SF6 Gas Handling:
  

  
  
  • Safely handle and manage sulfur hexafluoride (SF6) gas, including filling and recovery.
    
  • Detect and repair SF6 gas leaks using specialized equipment.
    
  • Test and analyze SF6 gas purity and moisture levels.
    

• Testing and Diagnostics:
  

  
  
  • Utilize diagnostic tools such as thermal imaging cameras and ultrasonic detectors.
    
  • Perform partial discharge measurements to assess insulation integrity.
    
  • Maintain and calibrate testing instruments.
    

• Compliance and Safety:
  

  
  
  • Ensure all work complies with industry standards (IEC, IEEE) and environmental regulations.
    
  • Implement and adhere to safety protocols, including lockout/tagout procedures.
    
  • Prepare for and respond appropriately to emergencies like gas leaks or electrical faults.
    

• Documentation and Reporting:
  

  
  
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and service reports.
    
  • Prepare detailed technical documentation and manuals.
    
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.
    

• Continuous Improvement:
  

  
  
  • Stay updated with the latest advancements in GIS technology and maintenance practices.
    
  • Participate in training programs and workshops.
    
  • Identify areas for improvement in maintenance procedures.
    

• Education:
  

  
  
  • Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
    

• Experience:
  

  
  
  • Minimum of [7] years of experience in GIS maintenance and overhauling.
    
  • Proven experience with medium to ultra-high voltage GIS equipment.
