Job Description
Field Operator, Coal and Ash is responsible of all field operations of jetty systems, coal handling system, ash handling system. He/she has to be in close coordination with Coal and ash control room, operate the local valves, pumps and equipment’s, check plant condition and isolate the equipment’s for maintenance work. Ensure plant housekeeping, daily checklist filling and reporting every activity to control room.
Field Operations
- Follow safety guidelines including PTW system
- Comply with all statutory and environment norms
- Support Shift Supervisor in system configuration for local line up and isolation of equipment
- Monitoring and recording of local parameters (e.g., levels, pressure, temperatures of equipment’s, bearings, lube oils etc.).
- Local monitoring of plant condition of equipment through observation, listening for abnormal sound, detecting vibrations, heat etc. and reporting to desk operator.
- Co-ordination with control room operations
- Reporting any leakages of coal, ash, air, water etc
- Manual operation of valves, dampers, equipment’s etc.
- Ensuring the correct position of piping hangers and supports
- Checking for valves, safety valves, PRVs passing and reporting to control room
- Writing major activities / events performed during the shift in logbook and filling the area log sheets
- Adherence to SOPs/ Operating Instructions.
- Switch from automatic to manual controls and isolate equipment mechanically and electrically to allow for safe execution of repair work.
- Adjust and /or controls valves on equipment to regulate and set operations of system or industrial processes
- Inform and report on accidents, suggest preventive measures.
- Provide first line support to report and initial extinguishing of fires, and other emergency and critical occurrences and keeping the CCR informed at all times.
- Reporting unsafe condition and unsafe act at field to competent authority
- Proactive team member and participation in teamwork.
- Ensure housekeeping & cleanliness
- To work any other area as assigned by shift in engineer or desk operator
- Comply with safety rules and regulations. Be familiar with the fire equipment in his area

- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, security and environmental procedures, instructions and controls so that the safety of employees and environmental compliance can be guaranteed.
- Monitor the environmental regulatory parameters on a regular basis and report any deviations to Shift Supervisor / Engineer or CCR Operator for corrective action
Minimum Qualifications, Experience, Requirements:
- Technical Diploma holder in Engineering
- 1 - 3 years’ experience in Coal Field operations in the Power / Water desalination units.
