Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

Order Processing:


  • Receive and record orders from guests via telephone, in-person, or through electronic ordering systems.
  • Confirm order details with guests, including special requests, dietary restrictions, and allergies.

Menu Knowledge:


  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of the menu items, including ingredients, preparation methods, and pricing to provide informed recommendations to guests.
  • Inform guests about daily specials and promotions.

Communication:


  • Relay orders accurately to the kitchen and bar staff, ensuring clarity and understanding of guest requests.
  • Communicate any special instructions or modifications to the appropriate team members.

Customer Service:


  • Provide excellent customer service by being attentive, courteous, and responsive to guests' needs and inquiries.
  • Address guest complaints or concerns promptly and escalate issues to management as necessary.

Quality Control:


  • Ensure that all orders are prepared and delivered to guests in a timely manner and meet the hotel's quality standards.
  • Check the accuracy of orders before they are dispatched from the kitchen or bar.

Record Keeping:


  • Maintain accurate records of orders taken, payments received, and any guest feedback.
  • Assist in inventory management by reporting low stock levels of menu items or supplies.

Health and Safety:


  • Adhere to all health and safety regulations, including food safety standards and cleanliness protocols.
  • Ensure the work area is clean and organized at all times.

Collaboration:


  • Work closely with kitchen and service staff to ensure a smooth operation and excellent guest experience.
  • Participate in team meetings and training sessions to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent preferred; hospitality or food service training is a plus.
  • Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or food and beverage role is preferred.
  • Skills:
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent listening skills and attention to detail.
    • Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
    • Basic math skills for handling cash and processing payments.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with point-of-sale (POS) systems and order management software.
