Executive Legal Counsel, Saudi ArabiaCompany:Boeing Saudi Arabia LimitedJob ID:00000440742Date Posted:2024-12-23Location:SAU - Riyadh, Saudi ArabiaJob Description Qualifications:The Boeing Company is seeking an Executive Legal Counsel to serve as Boeing’s lead lawyer in Saudi Arabia, based in Riyadh.The Legal Counsel will be a member of The Boeing Company's Law and Global Compliance Department, under the Global Law Affairs group and a part of the Middle East, Turkey, Africa, and Central Asia (METACA) regional legal team.The Global Law Affairs (GLA) group consists of 17 attorneys who are located around the world, led by a Vice President and Assistant General Counsel. The GLA team works closely with their U.S.-based legal colleagues and this position will report to the Regional Counsel, based in Dubai, UAE.This position will also work closely with the Boeing President for Saudi Arabia.Position Responsibilities:Advisory Responsibilities. Responsible for providing advice and counsel to the company’s business leaders located in Saudi Arabia on the full range of legal issues that may arise. This will include support to Boeing’s Defense, Space and Security, Commercial Airplanes, and Global Services (comprising both defense and commercial) businesses, as well as related localization and industrial participation projects in the region.Management. Serve on the Boeing Saudi Arabia Leadership team, supported by legal support staff and regional paralegals based in Dubai, UAE and managing a budget for external counsel support. Joint Ventures/M&A. Responsible for working together with Boeing M&A attorneys on proposed joint ventures and acquisitions in the region and coordinating local law advice on all aspects of the above, including on appropriate business structures.Compliance. Responsible for managing the implementation of all applicable company policies in Saudi Arabia, including synchronizing company policies with local law limitations; for evaluating in-place compliance mechanisms, relative to the U.S., the relevant Saudi Arabia jurisdictions and any other applicable law; and for identifying any new compliance needs and developing/ implementing attendant processes, as required by the U.S. or other applicable law.Investigations and Litigation. Responsible for coordinating legal aspects of investigations in Saudi Arabia in conjunction with U.S. investigations and litigation counsel; interface with governmental organizations on legal issues.Subsidiary Management. Work together with U.S.-based counsel on corporate governance and registration requirements for the company's subsidiaries and branch offices in Saudi Arabia.Labor and Employment. Responsible for managing labor and employment matters for all business units in Saudi Arabia, working with local human resources team and U.S.-based Counsel. Representative matters may include employment disputes, compliance requirements for local and foreign hires, immigration and visa compliance for the latter, termination issues, and managing the temporary assignment of employees to international locations.Contracts, Procurement, and Leasing. Responsible for advising business personnel, functional personnel, and coordinating with U.S.-based Counsel regarding local contracting practices on matters including defense procurement, commercial procurement, non-production procurement, and real estate matters.Regulatory. Responsible for advising business personnel and coordinating with U.S.-based Counsel and Boeing’s finance organization regarding regulatory matters in Saudi Arabia.Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)The ideal candidate must communicate well in English and Arabic, both orally and in writing; must work well in a team environment with colleagues and clients spread across multiple time zones; and must possess a strong entrepreneurial streak that helps them find creative solutions for commercially complex problems.Whilst candidates who show strong experience both in-house and in private practice with one or more major international law firms would be strongly preferred, we will consider outstanding candidates who only have strong private practice experience.Typical Education and Work ExperienceThe ideal candidate will have excellent academic qualifications with a J.D or equivalent from a reputable academic institution and preferably a bar qualification from one or more reputable common law jurisdictions. Minimum 10 years of professional experience, out of which at least 5 years of working in Saudi Arabia, is essential. Preference will be given to candidates who are currently based in Saudi Arabia.Relocation:This position offers relocation within Saudi Arabia - subject to candidate eligibility.Right to work:Immigration support will not be provided.This requisition is for a locally hired position in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
