ROLE OVERVIEW
The ERP SME will support the Enterprise Application ecosystem within the Education, Research and Innovation sector including building the required team to support the Enterprise Architecture, assist all enterprise resource planning operations within the University. The ERP SME supports and facilitates the digital strategy to enhance the experience of our students, faculty, staff, and other stakeholders.
The ERP SME prepares NEOM U’s transformation from inception, embracing digital technology, and embedding digital thinking at the core of our business. The ERP SME delivers SAP cloud technology and prioritizes artificial intelligence and machine learning.
The role holder will work closely with the business and ERP manger to implement and maintain the roadmap for the future of the university. Initially he/she will fully participate in the SAP implementation project and will ensure that the solution is delivered according to business requirements. The role owner will be made the functional and technical lead of the ERP system landscape.
ROLE COMPETENCIES & ACTIVITIES
The ERP SME priorities and responsibilities are:
- Cloud and Automation: Implementing cloud solutions from inception and setting automation as the baseline for all processes and services.
- Data analytics and AI: enabling data analytics and AI programs and fostering a culture of digital thinking and data-driven decision-making throughout the University.
- Participate towards the development of a multi-year roadmap and financial plan to sequence efforts to implement the university technology in alignment with needs, available resources, and capacity for change.
- Work closely with Senior Staff and other relevant stakeholders within and across NEOM to establish and maintain an institutional planning and governance framework for information technology, including the appropriate decision making and communication structures to execute effective technology deployment and timely project delivery.
- Support innovation and integrated solutions in support of teaching, learning, research and innovation.
- The incumbent will leverage relationship building, problem solving, budget management, and creativity to create a vision of information technology for the campus and to implement that vision in a high-quality and sustainable manner.
- ERP system Management – The SME will ensure that the system is optimally configured to meet the unique needs of ERI and review and update system configurations to align with evolving processes
- Manage ERP-related requirements, including system upgrades, integrations and new rollouts
- Collaborate with our educational pillars to understand their needs and challenges and translate these into system requirements and making sure ERP operations adhere to industry best practices and internal policies.
- Participate in ERP-related projects and provide expert input
- Develop and deliver training programs for users across the university and provide ongoing support to users
- Assist in managing ERP system vendors and service providers.
- Develop and govern the ERP system architecture
- Have a leading role in new project developments and responsible for technical delivery.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Minimum 6 years’ experience in Enterprise Application projects in a complex environment. Specifically in configuration, customization and application management.
- Technical competence, having progressed through roles of increasing responsibility.
- Experience with enterprise resource planning systems, specifically with SAP solutions. SAP SLcM and higher education experience is highly beneficial.
- Experience with more than 2 of the following modules is seen as advantageous: SAP S/4 HANA, SAP FI/CO, SAP Funds & Grants Management, SAP PS and SAP SLcM
- Knowledge of SAP MM, SAP Procurement, Ariba, SuccessFactors and Cloud Analytics is desired.
- Effective communicator at all levels within a complex and culturally diverse organization
- Ability to demonstrate a strong orientation and commitment to customer service.
- Experience with requirements management and the creation of TDD & FDD documents
- Project management expertise includes change management in complex environments and implementing continuous quality improvement.
- Skills in training and supporting end-users of the ERP system.
- Analytical skills and ability to use data to guide decision-making; ability to direct and resolve ambiguous problems.
- Proven negotiation and influencing skills.
- Unquestioned integrity with a high energy level and a strong work ethic. Broad intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm for fresh ideas.
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in stakeholder management, public relations, community engagement, or a related field.
- Proven track record of successfully managing relationships with diverse stakeholder groups.
- Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.
- High level of emotional intelligence and diplomacy.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is required
- A master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
- SAP ERP Certifications within Core ERP and higher education/public sector solutions is preferred
- Project Management Certification (e.g., CAPM or PMP) is seen as advantageous
