Job Purpose
A Maintenance Engineer in precast factory is responsible for overseeing the maintenance activities and ensuring the reliability of equipment and facilities in both production areas. This role involves developing maintenance strategies, managing maintenance schedules, and implementing improvement projects to optimize efficiency and minimize downtime.
Key Accountability Areas
- Maintenance Strategy Development: Develop and implement comprehensive maintenance strategies and programs for equipment and facilities in both precast and ready mix areas, considering factors such as equipment criticality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
- Preventive Maintenance Planning: Plan and schedule preventive maintenance activities for machinery, equipment, and systems to minimize unplanned downtime and prolong asset lifespan, utilizing maintenance management software and predictive maintenance techniques where applicable.
- Reactive Maintenance Management: Coordinate the response to equipment breakdowns and emergencies, ensuring prompt diagnosis and resolution of issues to minimize production disruptions and safety risks.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis of equipment failures and reliability issues, identifying underlying causes and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve equipment reliability.
- Spare Parts Management: Manage the inventory of spare parts, tools, and consumables necessary for maintenance activities, ensuring availability and proper storage to support efficient maintenance operations.
- Maintenance Budgeting and Cost Control: Develop and manage maintenance budgets for both precast and ready mix areas, monitoring expenses, and implementing cost-saving initiatives while maintaining the required level of maintenance quality and reliability.
- Contractor Management: Coordinate with external contractors and service providers for specialized maintenance activities, ensuring compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and contractual agreements.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead continuous improvement initiatives to optimize maintenance processes, enhance equipment reliability, and reduce maintenance costs through the implementation of best practices, technology upgrades, and performance metrics tracking.
- Compliance and Safety: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and codes governing equipment safety and environmental protection, maintaining documentation and records as required.
- Training and Development: Provide training and development opportunities for maintenance staff, including technicians and assistants, to enhance technical skills, promote safety awareness, and improve job performance.
Role Accountability
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field; professional certification or licensure may be preferred.
- Proven experience in maintenance engineering or a similar role within an industrial manufacturing environment, with specific experience in precast and/or ready mix operations preferred.
- Strong technical knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and/or hydraulic systems, gained through hands-on experience and formal education.
- Proficiency in maintenance management software, computer-aided design (CAD) tools, and other relevant software applications.
- Project management skills, including the ability to plan, execute, and monitor maintenance projects within budget and timeline constraints.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a systematic approach to troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement principles, with a proactive approach to identifying and implementing best practices.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings, weekends, or on-call shifts as needed to support maintenance operations and respond to emergencies.
