- Create schematics, circuit diagrams, and technical drawings to specify electrical system requirements.
- Use design software like AutoCAD, MATLAB, or ETAP to model and simulate electrical systems and components.
Power Systems:
- Work on power generation, transmission, and distribution systems to ensure that electricity is delivered efficiently and safely.
- Design and maintain substations, electrical grids, and renewable energy systems (such as wind, solar, and hydroelectric power plants).
- Ensure systems comply with safety and regulatory standards (e.g., IEEE, NEC).
Control and Automation:
- Develop control systems to manage industrial processes, machinery, and robots, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems, and automation software to monitor and control processes.
Testing and Troubleshooting:
- Test electrical systems and components for functionality, safety, and performance.
- Troubleshoot electrical problems, both in design and in operational settings, to ensure systems are functioning as intended.
Project Management:
- Plan and oversee projects related to the installation, upgrade, or maintenance of electrical systems.
- Coordinate with other engineers, architects, contractors, and clients to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
- Develop project schedules, monitor progress, and ensure compliance with safety standards.
Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:
- Design energy-efficient electrical systems that reduce power consumption and environmental impact.
- Integrate renewable energy solutions into systems, such as solar panels, wind turbines, or energy storage systems.
Compliance and Safety:
- Ensure that electrical systems meet national and international safety standards, codes, and regulations.
- Conduct safety assessments and risk analyses to prevent accidents or electrical hazards.
Skills
Technical Proficiency:
