Job Description
Job Summary: As an Electrical and Lighting Control Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in designing, implementing, and maintaining electrical systems and lighting control solutions for various projects. Your expertise will ensure efficient energy usage, compliance with electrical codes, and optimal performance of lighting systems to enhance safety and functionality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Electrical System Design and Analysis:
- Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, and control systems, based on project requirements and specifications.
- Perform load calculations, voltage drop analysis, and short circuit analysis to ensure system reliability and compliance with electrical codes.
- Lighting Control Design and Implementation:
- Design lighting control systems, including selection of fixtures, controls, and automated systems to achieve energy efficiency and lighting quality.
- Integrate lighting controls with building management systems (BMS) for centralized monitoring and control.
- Technical Support and Troubleshooting:
- Provide technical support during installation, commissioning, and maintenance of electrical and lighting control systems.
- Troubleshoot electrical and lighting issues, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
- Code Compliance and Standards:
- Ensure compliance with local, national, and international electrical codes, standards, and regulations (e.g., NEC, IEC) in all design and installation activities.
- Stay informed about industry trends, advancements in lighting technologies, and sustainability practices related to electrical and lighting systems.
- Project Coordination and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with architects, engineers, contractors, and clients to integrate electrical and lighting designs into overall project plans.
- Communicate design concepts, specifications, and technical requirements effectively to stakeholders and project teams.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Prepare detailed electrical drawings, specifications, and documentation for permit applications, construction drawings, and project records.
- Maintain accurate records of design changes, equipment specifications, and as-built drawings.
Skills
Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Lighting Design, or related field. Professional licensure (PE) or certification (e.g., LC, LEED AP) may be advantageous.
- Proven experience in electrical system design, lighting control design, and implementation, preferably in building construction or infrastructure projects.
- Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux) and lighting calculation tools.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles, codes, and standards (e.g., NFPA, IEEE).
- Familiarity with building automation systems (BAS) and energy management systems (EMS) for integrated control solutions.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in design calculations and system configurations.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.
- Project management abilities, including the ability to manage deadlines, prioritize tasks, and adapt to changing project requirements.
