ROLE PURPOSE
The Construction Cost Analysis Engineer is responsible for evaluating and managing the financial aspects of construction projects. This role involves analyzing project costs, preparing cost estimates, monitoring budgets, identifying variances and ensuring that projects are completed within their financial constraints. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to provide accurate financial information and support decision-making processes.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cost Estimation:
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
- Analyze project plans, specifications, and proposals to determine project costs.
- Develop and maintain cost databases for use in future estimates.
Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring that costs are controlled and aligned with the project’s financial goals.
- Identify cost variances and provide recommendations for corrective actions to keep projects within budget.
- Collaborate with project managers to forecast project costs and manage budget changes.
Cost Control and Reporting:
- Implement cost control processes to track and manage project costs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare regular financial reports, including cost analyses, forecasts, and budget updates.
- Conduct financial analysis to support project decision-making and optimize resource allocation.
Risk Management:
- Identify potential cost risks and develop strategies to mitigate financial exposure.
- Work with the project team to assess the financial impact of changes in project scope or schedule.
Contract and Procurement Support:
- Review contractor bids, contracts, and change orders to ensure accuracy and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide financial input and analysis during contract negotiations and procurement processes.
Continuous Improvement:
- Continuously seek opportunities to improve cost estimation and control processes.
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and new technologies related to construction cost management.
BACKGROUND, KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience with a tier-1 technical advisor, including several advisory mandates with both the private and public sectors in BOOT, BOT, PPPs transactions.
- Knowledge of building codes and regulations prevailing in the KSA
- Strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and standards
- Experience in financial analysis and cost management
- Experience in large-scale construction projects is highly desirable.
- Quantitative and qualitative analytical experience coupled with knowledge of operating principles.
- Experience in working in matrix organizations and understanding in leading or being part of functional projects cross a global cross-functional team.
- Strong analytical experience and presentation skills with unique attention to details.
- Skilled communicator who can operate as a team player and influence change.
- Proven ability to maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, while coordinating multiple tasks / priorities.
- Ability to undertake strategic thinking and adapt to a dynamic environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in - Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
