Position : Design Manager (BIM Expertise)

Project: Tunnel MEP Fit-Out

Role Overview:
The Design Manager will oversee the Building Information Modeling (BIM) and design aspects of the Tunnel MEP Fit-Out Project, ensuring integration and coordination across all disciplines. This role requires expertise in managing BIM-based workflows, coordinating multi-disciplinary design teams, and ensuring design compliance with technical standards and stakeholder requirements.
Responsibilities:
BIM Management and Coordination
- Lead the development and implementation of BIM workflows and processes for the project.
- Manage the Common Data Environment (CDE) to ensure all design information is accessible, accurate, and up to date.
- Ensure BIM models are developed to required LOD (Level of Development) standards for all project stages.
- Coordinate clash detection and resolution activities, using BIM software tools to ensure seamless design integration.
Design Coordination and Oversight
- Oversee the integration of BIM with design activities across MEP, civil, and architectural disciplines.
- Review and approve design submissions for compliance with codes, standards, and client specifications.
- Manage design change requests, ensuring efficient resolution and minimal project disruption.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Act as the primary interface for design-related matters, engaging with the client, consultants.
- Facilitate BIM-based design reviews and workshops to align stakeholders on project deliverables.
- Collaborate with on-site teams to address and resolve design-related challenges, incorporating feedback into BIM models.
Technical Compliance and Standards
- Ensure all BIM models and design deliverables comply with local regulations, international standards, and project-specific requirements.
- Oversee QA/QC processes for BIM submissions and monitor adherence to project BIM Execution Plans (BEP).
Interface Coordination
- Oversee BIM-enabled integration of design elements across disciplines (MEP, civil, architectural) and ensure compatibility with utilities and tunnel systems.
- Resolve design conflicts through interface coordination and advanced BIM analysis.
Team Leadership
- Lead and mentor a team of BIM specialists, design engineers, and coordinators.
- Provide technical guidance to enhance team productivity and ensure delivery of high-quality design outputs.
Project Reporting
- Prepare and present design progress reports, including BIM deliverables and clash resolution updates, to project stakeholders.
- Monitor and track design and BIM milestones, ensuring alignment with project timelines.
Requirements:
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- Master’s degree or specialization in BIM or related fields is preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum 15 years of experience in design management, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Proven expertise in BIM-enabled design coordination on large-scale MEP fit-out projects.
- Prior experience with renowned PMC/consultancy firms and contractor environments in Saudi Arabia is essential.
Technical Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in BIM software tools such as Revit, Navisworks, AutoCAD, and BIM 360.
- Strong understanding of ISO 19650 principles and workflows.
- Strong understanding of local and international codes and standards.
- Familiarity with interface coordination for tunnel construction and MEP fit-out projects.
Certifications:
- Professional certifications such as BIM Manager (buildingSMART), PMP, or Prince2 are highly desirable.
