Role Purpose


The Design Excellence Director - Facades in The Line Design team will lead and manage the design of all facades within THE LINE Region.


The Design Excellence Director - Facades will lead a design team with respective plans, schedules, and will organize and coordinate the design work is executed on projects of all scales.



KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES & ACTIVITIES



Key accountabilities:


  • Successful delivery of the Façade design and construction scope for THE LINE in a manner that supports the successful delivery of the project goals in terms of budget, schedule, quality, innovation and sustainability. Being part of the team accountable for delivering the multi-disciplinary design for THE LINE region.
  • Leading a team covering the principal building asset design engineering disciplines to provide support to the LINE Design Project teams for the regional assets as well as oversight of what LINE Projects are procuring / managing
  • Overall accountability for the success delivery of Façade Design across THE LINE regional assets (i.e. irrespective of how that work is delivered)

Role and responsibilities:


  • In conjunction with multi-disciplinary design and engineering consultants, manage the development of façade designs and coordination of associated activities across THE LINE.
  • Responsible as part of the senior management team for delivering THE LINE Design Management mandate, including stakeholder engagement internally and externally.
  • Develop a comprehensive Facade Design strategy aligned with THE LINE delivery strategy
  • Develop implementation plans for Facade Design that consider project-specific requirements, timelines, and budgets. Align plans with the overarching mission and objectives, ensuring a clear roadmap for achieving our goals.
  • Utilize industry knowledge and network to source opportunities for Facade Design. Evaluate and select technologies that align with our goals and can be seamlessly integrated into our projects.
  • Establish and nurture strategic partnerships, joint ventures, and alliances with technology providers, research institutions, and industry experts. Foster collaboration to accelerate adoption of innovations where these have value to the process.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and excellence. Provide mentorship, guidance, and direction to ensure the successful execution of the Facade Design strategy.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to analyze complex issues and develop innovative solutions to overcome obstacles to ensure successful project execution.
  • Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess the impact of Façade Designs on project timelines, costs, and environmental footprint.
  • Regularly monitor and report on progress to leadership.
  • Leverage knowledge of latest advancements and trends in Facade Design to inform decision-making.
  • Ensure consultants adopt an innovation/ creative approach to façade design. 
  • Manage architectural design consultants to deliver NEOM architectural content.
  • Strong ability to prepare, develop and edit drawings and presentations
  • Supervise the production of visualization, pre-concept, concept, developed and detailed design
  • Acts as Lead reviewer of qualitative façade design review process, providing analysis, comment, and recommendation to executive management.
  • Lead, develop and review design asset briefs
  • Prepare SoW, specifications, reports and related data tables
  • Lead and develop design manuals, standard design documents
  • Manages preparation of and checks materials schedules and sample boards and mock-ups
  • Manages preparation of and checks FF&E schedules and sourcing, including samples and mock-ups
  • Understanding materiality and its specifications
  • Technical detailing and construction administration experience
  • Ability to solve design issues in a creative and pragmatic way by developing multiple designs options that meet the design approach and budget
  • Manage communication, coordination, and management of consultants, contractors, various NEOM departments/sectors
  • Produce deliverables in accordance with NEOM standards and policies.
