The Water/Infrastructure division is currently seeking to appoint a Desalination Specialist to join our Water team in Riyadh, KSA.
We have an extensive portfolio of International projects, helping our clients address asset creation, process improvement and plant optimisation needs. Our locally focused teams incorporate expert electrical, ICA, process, mechanical and civil engineers who provide a multidisciplinary approach to solving our clients’ problems in creating, managing, building and investing in water and wastewater infrastructure.
Detailed role requirements:
Master’s degree in Chemical / Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
Minimum of 10+ years’ professional experience in in technical consultancy roles on seawater desalination projects (notably IWP’s / IWPP’s)
Experience in the Middle East is highly desirable
Full technical understanding of SWRO desalination plant design and operation
Competence in selecting / specifying the equipment / packages of the plant (gravity filters, pressure filters, DAF, UF, SWRO membranes, ERD, HP pumps, post-treatment, etc.)
Familiarity with SWRO numerical design tools (including membrane projection)
Capability to perform hydraulic sizing calculations using spreadsheets
Capability to develop a bespoke concept design for a new plant based on specific input data
Good communication skills for team working and reporting to managers / clients
High standard of report writing
Attitude to lead a small work team
Competence in thermal desalination (MSF / MED technologies) is a plus.
Responsibilities
Support as a desalination technology expert the bidding and delivery of technical advisory services for desalination projects, taking full responsibility for the following tasks:
Perform feasibility studies of new desalination projects
Carry out technical due diligences on desalination projects
Perform the technical review of the process / technological deliverables of engineering packages during the execution stage of desalination projects and attend technical clarifications meetings
Advise clients during tendering (notably for IWP’s / IWPP’s) on the most effective technical solutions for their desalination proposals and support them in the production of the tender deliverables
Assist design teams in the conceptual and technological selections for new desalination plants (including pre-treatment configuration, SWRO membrane system arrangement, equipment redundancy level, plant operation parameters, seawater intake and brine outfall arrangement, remineralization technology, etc.)
Support the planning and delivery of broader business development opportunities.
The ability and willingness to travel and work overseas for short periods of time may be necessary for this role.
