Job Description
We are looking for a highly skilled Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our cloud-based and on-premises database systems. As a DBA, you will be responsible for overseeing the performance, security, and availability of enterprise data, working with databases like Google BigQuery, Microsoft Fabric, SAP, Oracle, and other relational and non-relational systems. You will play a critical role in ensuring data integrity, supporting data integration efforts with Tableau and other visualization platforms, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless data management across the entire organization.
Database Management & Optimization
- Design, implement, and maintain highly available database environments across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Fabric, and other platforms such as SAP, Oracle, and Cloud SQL.
- Ensure optimal database performance through proactive monitoring, performance tuning, and query optimization, leveraging tools like BigQuery, SQL Profiler, and GCP Monitoring.
- Develop and implement backup strategies, disaster recovery plans, and high-availability configurations to ensure data resiliency and availability.
Database Security & Compliance
- Manage data integration across multiple systems, ensuring seamless data flows between SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Fabric, and Google BigQuery.
- Work closely with data engineers and analysts to support the integration of data into Tableau Server for real-time reporting and analytics.
- Design and maintain ETL processes, ensuring data is available and accurate for analysis in a timely manner.
Database Security & Compliance
- Implement and maintain database security protocols, including encryption, user access control, audit logging, and role-based permissions to protect sensitive data.
- Ensure compliance with industry regulations such as ISO 27001, GDPR, and SOC 2 by managing and enforcing database security policies.
- Conduct regular security audits, patch management, and vulnerability assessments to mitigate security risks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Database Expertise: In-depth knowledge of managing relational databases like Google BigQuery, Cloud SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and SAP HANA. Experience with NoSQL databases (e.g., Firestore, MongoDB) is a plus.
- Cloud Integration & Data Management: Strong experience with cloud-based databases, especially on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including BigQuery and Cloud SQL. Ability to manage hybrid data environments, integrating cloud-native and on-premises databases.
- Performance Tuning & Optimization: Expertise in query optimization, indexing, and database tuning to ensure high-performance database operations, with experience in tools like SQL Profiler, GCP Monitoring, and BigQuery for performance tracking and tuning.
- ETL & Data Pipelines: Experience in building and maintaining ETL pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading between multiple sources like SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Fabric, and Google BigQuery.
- Security & Compliance: Strong understanding of data security practices, including encryption, role-based access control (RBAC), IAM policies, and compliance with industry standards such as GDPR, ISO 27001, and SOC 2.
- Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell for automating database tasks. Experience with Terraform, Ansible, or similar tools for automating cloud infrastructure deployments.
- Collaboration & Troubleshooting: Ability to work closely with DevOps, data engineers, and application developers to troubleshoot issues, optimize systems, and support new feature development.
