Job Description
The Content
Researcher and Content Manager will play a pivotal role in the creation and
curation of content for a high-profile museum project in Mecca. This position
bridges the gap between historical, cultural, and religious research and the
creative development of engaging exhibits. The individual will be responsible
for researching, developing, organizing, and managing content to ensure it
aligns with the project’s vision, cultural sensitivities, and educational
objectives.
Key Roles
and Responsibilities
Content
Research- Conduct
in-depth research on Mecca's historical, cultural, architectural, and religious
significance.
- Source,
authenticate, and analyze primary and secondary materials, including artifacts,
manuscripts, historical texts, and oral histories.
- Collaborate
with subject-matter experts, historians, theologians, and cultural advisors to
ensure the accuracy and authenticity of the content.
- Stay
updated on new research, trends, and findings relevant to Islamic history and
museum studies.
Content
Development and Management- Develop
narratives, themes, and storylines for museum exhibits, ensuring they are
engaging, educational, and culturally appropriate.
- Organize
and document all research materials, ensuring they are accessible to team
members.
- Collaborate
with designers, architects, and multimedia teams to translate research into
visual and interactive experiences.
- Manage the
content creation process, including the production of text, audio-visual
elements, infographics, and digital assets.
- Create and
maintain a content calendar, ensuring deadlines are met for different project
phases.
Quality
Assurance and Alignment- Review all
content to ensure cultural sensitivity, accuracy, and alignment with the
project’s goals.
- Work
closely with stakeholders to ensure that the museum's content reflects the
intended vision, tone, and educational objectives.
- Implement
feedback and revisions from advisors and project stakeholders.
Collaboration
and Communication- Serve as
the primary liaison between research teams, creative teams, and external
consultants.
- Present
research findings and content proposals to the project team and stakeholders.
- Facilitate
workshops, brainstorming sessions, and team discussions to align research with
design concepts.
Technical
Skills- Strong
research skills, particularly in Islamic history, art, culture, and theology.
- Proficiency
in content management systems (CMS) and digital archiving tools.
- Knowledge
of museum practices, exhibit design, and interpretive storytelling techniques.
- Familiarity
with multimedia tools, including video production, graphic design, and
interactive technologies, is a plus.
- Excellent
writing and editing skills in both Arabic and English.
- Competence
in data organization and management using tools like Excel, Airtable, or
similar software.
Soft Skills- Cultural
Sensitivity: Deep understanding of Islamic values and the ability to approach
research and content development with respect.
- Communication:
Strong verbal and written communication skills to liaise with diverse
stakeholders and present ideas clearly.

Recommended
Qualifications- Bachelor’s
or Master’s degree in History, Cultural Studies, Museum Studies, Anthropology,
or a related field.
- 5+ years of
experience in content research or management, ideally in museum, heritage, or
cultural projects.
- Experience
working on projects with a focus on Islamic culture and history is highly
desirable.
- Familiarity
with working in the Middle East or knowledge of the region’s cultural and
social context is a strong advantage.
