Concept Design Director (E)

In this role, you will be responsible for managing the Concept Design Department activities, in order to ensure and deliver on the Department’s mandate and identify improvement opportunities that will contribute to the delivery of short and mid-term strategic objectives within set KPIs, agreed budgets and adopted policies and procedures as well as coordinate the implementation and administration of the operations strategic plan and facilitates enterprise-wide project management to operationalize the delivery of strategic and organizational goals.
You will be responsible for
Contributing to the design and implementation of the Sector’s strategy and roadmap by providing function-specific inputs
Establishing and implementing the Department’s operational plans in support of the Sector’s overall strategic plan and KPIs
Preparing the Concept Design Department's annual budget and participating in the Division’s budgeting cycle and process
Utilizing and managing the Concept Design Department's budget effectively, and reporting accurately on progress made and challenges encountered
Investigating and proposing implementing strategies that result in positive financial impact for STA and mitigate financial and operational risks
Developing architectural-based national concepts approved for funding
Producing iconic development concepts and big ideas, experiences, and stories for unique projects; and preparing briefs, preliminary programs, areas, and budget considerations as a basis for project development
Managing a team of architects and designers, providing them with direction on projects to develop architectural concepts for touristic ideas
Providing leadership direction to the design team, and collaborating with other members of the team to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget
Coordinating with the heads of different departments to determine design requirements, including reviewing ideas and projects to enhance the overall tourist experience
Developing plans for new construction projects, remodeling existing structures, or improving the functionality of existing space
Reviewing architectural and urban / master plans for compliance to regulations
Identifying ways to improve the design of structures based on feedback about the different experiences
Meeting with architectural developers to discuss experience design details such as visuals and different experience aids
Creating diagrams, renderings, and other visual representations of architectural concepts
Proposing improvements to the Concept Design Department's policies, and ensuring the implementation of procedures and controls across all areas of activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering high-quality and cost-effective results
Monitoring day-to-day activities to ensure compliance with stipulated policies and procedures
Stimulating subordinates and contribute to the identification of opportunities for continuous improvement of systems and processes taking into account leading practices, changes in business environment, cost reduction and productivity improvement
Managing, guiding and assisting direct reports to perform their functional operations in accordance with set policies and procedures
Participate in identifying and recruiting key talent for Concept Design Department
Promoting a high-performance working environment embracing STA’s value
Building and maintaining solid relations with external stakeholders such as governmental entities and consultants to serve STA’s best interest
Assisting the organization and supporting peers when needed to perform their duties
Approving reports and presentations related to Concept Design Department activities and achievements for reporting and decision-making
Performing other activities as and when required
You will need:
A bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent is preferred
A master’s degree in architecture or equivalent is preferred
Not less than 10 years of experience in architecture, design, or in any relevant field
