Job Description
As a Commercial Director you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the commercial function for high-profile PMC projects. This role demands a strategic and hands-on leader with deep expertise in commercial management, contract administration, and dispute resolution. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in overseeing commercial operations, maximizing profitability, and ensuring compliance with project-specific requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and direct all commercial activities for large-scale PMC projects, including planning, procurement, and contract management for large scale projects.
- Develop and manage all commercial strategies, including contract negotiation, administration, and risk management. Ensure contracts meet the project’s objectives and legal requirements.
- Lead the development and execution of cost management strategies to control costs and enhance value for the project while maintaining high-quality standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, clients, consultants, and stakeholders to ensure alignment on commercial objectives and deliverables.
- Oversee risk assessment and mitigation strategies for commercial activities. Address any contractual disputes, claims, or issues, leveraging expertise in CIArb (Chartered Institute of Arbitrators) practices.
- Manage, mentor, and develop commercial teams, ensuring the highest standards of professional performance. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration across the team.
- Ensure accurate and timely reporting of commercial progress, cost forecasts, and financial performance for each project. Present key metrics and commercial strategies to the executive leadership.
- Stay informed on industry trends, regulatory changes, and market conditions that may impact the commercial aspects of the project. Adjust strategies to optimize profitability and project success.
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and company policies in line with RICS (Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors) and CIOB (Chartered Institute of Building) standards. Promote best practices in commercial and contract management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quantity surveying or other related field.
- 25+ years of experience in commercial management with a focus on PMC projects, including significant exposure to large scale projects.
- Professional certifications: RICS, CIArb, CIOB.
- Extensive experience in contract negotiation, claims management, and dispute resolution.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing large commercial teams across complex, high-value projects.
- Proven ability to implement cost control and risk management strategies.
- Expertise in navigating stakeholder relationships and maintaining effective communication channels across diverse teams.
- Solid understanding of industry regulations and standards applicable to large-scale projects, particularly within the Middle East or similar regions.

- Strong financial acumen with the ability to interpret and analyze complex commercial data.
- Proficient in contract forms such as FIDIC, NEC, and bespoke contracts used in PMC and large scale projects.
