Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Cloud Transition Manager to lead the migration of workloads from private cloud environments to public cloud platforms, primarily Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Google Cloud Platform (GCP). The role involves developing and executing migration strategies, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations, and assisting in the transition to managed services for private cloud environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in cloud infrastructure, exceptional project management skills, and the ability to collaborate across technical and business teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Cloud Migration Management
- Develop a comprehensive migration strategy for transitioning workloads from private cloud to public cloud platforms (OCI and GCP).
- Assess and analyze existing private cloud environments to determine workload readiness and develop migration plans.
- Execute cloud migration projects, including application re-hosting, re-platforming, and re-architecting where necessary.
- Ensure seamless data migration, system compatibility, and application performance during transitions.
Private Cloud Management
- Oversee the handover and management of private cloud environments, ensuring effective service delivery and operational continuity.
- Collaborate with managed service providers to optimize private cloud operations, including monitoring, patching, and incident resolution.
- Implement governance and security frameworks to maintain compliance and secure private cloud environments.
Project Leadership
- Lead cross-functional teams of architects, engineers, and business stakeholders to achieve project goals.
- Develop and maintain project timelines, milestones, and deliverables to ensure on-time, on-budget execution.
- Manage risks, dependencies, and change requests throughout the migration process.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as the primary point of contact between technical teams, vendors, and business units during cloud transition projects.
- Work closely with finance and procurement teams to manage budgets, contracts, and cloud cost optimization.
- Facilitate training and knowledge transfer for teams adopting new cloud environments and tools.
Optimization & Continuous Improvement
- Implement tools and practices to monitor and optimize public cloud resources post-migration.
- Identify opportunities to streamline workflows and improve performance in hybrid cloud environments.
- Stay up-to-date with evolving technologies and provide recommendations for future improvements.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Technical Expertise:
- Deep understanding of private cloud infrastructure, including compute, storage, and networking.
- Expertise in public cloud platforms, specifically OCI and GCP, including migration tools and services (e.g., GCP Migrate, OCI Data Transfer).
- Familiarity with hybrid cloud architectures and multi-cloud strategies.
- Knowledge of virtualization platforms such as VMware and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform.
Project Management:
- Proven experience managing large-scale cloud migration projects.
- Strong knowledge of project management methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall.
- Proficiency in using project management tools such as Jira, Trello, or Microsoft Project.
Soft Skills:
- Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
