Job Description
Job Role:
The Category Manager is responsible to develop the overall strategy for a product category and research new product opportunities within the category to drive sales and achieve set targets.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES AND TASKS:
- Analyse data to determine industry and consumer trends.
- Identify and establish long-term partnerships with direct distributors and wholesalers.
- Stay on the lookout for new suppliers based on strategy.
- Assist in setting the yearly budget/sales target and profit per category.
- Contribute in setting and implementing business plans to achieve target.
- Administer the price setting and respect the margin per category.
- Monitor and enhance category/product performance.
- Establish long-term development strategies for product categories.
- Develop exit strategies for unsuccessful products.
- Create trust relationships with vendors to achieve better pricing and quality of services.
- Place appropriate orders to ensure product availability that meets consumer demands.
- Determine the positioning of a product category to maximize visibility.
- Monitor price and competition.
- Collaborate with buyers and merchandisers to expand product categories.
- Assume responsibility of budget development and revenue for category.

Minimum Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Category Manager in the FMCG field.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in business administration or marketing or equivalent.
