JOB PURPOSE BAE Systems is the UK Government’s nominated Prime Contractor under the Government-to-Government arrangements that are in place to provide equipment, support and training to Saudi Arabia. We provide maintenance of Royal Saudi Air Force aircraft and train RSAF personnel safely in a training environment in how to use their aircraft, equipment and weapons.

JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES
The Business Management & Development Director is a key executive leader responsible for driving strategic planning, project management and operational excellence, compliance, operational efficiency, governance, business growth and portfolio development across the training operations organisation. This role will be critical in ensuring that BAE Systems SDT meets its strategic objectives while upholding the highest standards of compliance and governance in accordance with our market standards. As the Business Management & Development Director, you will oversee the Project Management Operations, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, uphold business excellence standards, and maintain robust governance and assurance frameworks. Reporting directly to the Development and Training Director, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the business management by guiding the organisation towards its objectives.
RECRUITMENT SPECIFICATION
Business growth and portfolio development: Deliver business growth through development of bid technical solutions that demonstrates the highest level of capability and value for money for our prospective customers. Manage the SDT training solutions bid activity for the Future Fighter programme, ensuring that SDT growth opportunity is maximised to its fullest potential. Proactively, organically grow our training portfolio for new course offerings and replace current bought out solutions where practicable.
Governance and Assurance: Maintain governance frameworks to ensure accountability and transparency. Establish assurance programs to monitor compliance with organisational policies. Plan and conduct regular internal/external audits and assessments to identify and remedy any governance issues.
Operational excellence and projects/programs Management: Management of projects and programs through structured reviews, measures and reporting cycles to ensure they are executed efficiently, on time, and within budget. Implement robust program management methodologies and best practices. Monitor the health of programs and projects through performance metrics and facilitate communication among major stakeholders. Ensure LCM mandates are fulfilled and Project Controls are in place.
Legal Oversight : Ensure the organisation’s operations comply with legal and regulatory requirements. Oversee contract management, including negotiations, reviews, and enforcement. Manage relationships with external stakeholders and customers.
Strategic Planning and Execution : Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term goals, identify opportunities for growth, and mitigate risks. Design and implement business strategies, plans, and procedures to enhance operational performance and meet organisational goals.
Team Leadership and Development: Build and lead a high-performing team covering all functional areas under your responsibility. Foster a culture of collaboration, professional growth, and ethical behaviour. Mentor and develop staff to ensure succession planning and capability building within the organisation.
