Job Description

Job Purpose:

  • To manage the berthing plan by maintaining vessel schedules shared by vessel operators and aligning with required resources + manpower for the next 24 hours.


Key Accountabilities:


  • To obtain vessel schedule from shipping line minimum 10days prior arrival and creating vessel visits for upcoming vessels on the basis of information received.
  • Verifies agreed window timeframe for the specific service and communicates with vessel operators on best suitable timeframe to maintain the vessel in order to get berth on arrival.
  • Ensures to reserve the berth for vessels which are arriving on time according to agreed window.
  • Ensures to maintain the vessel berthing on first in first serve basis for all the out of window vessels (mainliners and feeders)
  • Ensures to update the vessel information in BPA (Berth Planning Application) and checks if the advised vessel can fit with the along with other vessels scheduled for the same timeframe and reverts back to vessel operator if required speeding up / slowing down the vessel.
  • Ensures that the vessel structure is available in TOS (Terminal Operating System) and approaches vessel operator to get vessel particulars if the vessel is arriving for the first time.
  • Schedule crane and resource plan 24hours in advance and distribute for resource booking with the confirmation from Shift Manager.
  • Ensures that manpower booking has been made using BPA and published on time.
  • Communicate with a marine tower on time-to-time basis with updates on berthing and sailing sequence/priorities.
  • Monitors all the timeframes for vessel arrival, berthing, commencing operation, completion and sailing to ensure accuracy in TOS updates.
  • To perform a vital role in communication as a focal point for marine operations and shipping lines.
  • Monitors weather situation and circulates weather forecast on daily basis.
  • Communicates with Shift managers if increase in wind speed is noticed through anemometers.
  • Communicates with the Engineering department and aligns PM/CM/EM requirements without impacting scheduled vessels.
  • Finalizes the berthing plan and circulates the same with internal / external customers on daily basis.
  • Ensures to capture/update of berthing and sailing-related information in FASAH application.
  • Complies with the guidelines from the direct manager and ensures implementation.
  • Responsible for safety & discipline in work area.
  • Ensure compliance with Fatal Risk Standards.
  • Ensure compliance with Safe Work Practices.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policy.
