Automation and Process Control Engineer


The A&PC Engineer will work within the process automation group to maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the process automation systems in the plant. The A&PC Engineer will work on the capital projects with project teams, design resources, and manufacturing organization and controls contractors to realize the objectives of the programs/projects involving automation and process control technology. Continued technical and professional development is required in this position to ensure the facility remains up to date on control system technology.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Develop, plan, and help execute regular process control maintenance activities throughout the plant.
  • Provides process control programming and hardware training to fellow group members and operations support staff.
  • Ensures the control software management is adequate and applied to achieve the site’s goals.
  • Maintainer of the plant process control policies and ensure help ensure they are being followed.
  • Administrator of the plant data historian and help continuous improvement of the historian.
  • Plan and execute process automation turnaround activities.
  • Ensures changes follow a Management of Change (MOC) process and are properly tested prior to loading into a production system per plant procedures.
  • Maintain physical and cyber security of control systems, including backups, patches, and updates.
  • Implements and support control system best practices (i.e., book of conventions).
  • Support a 24/7 manufacturing facility.

Qualifications:


  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Instrumentation & Process Control engineering concepts and design including circuits, control systems, as well as a general knowledge of mechanical equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the maintenance, repair, design, and installation of instrumentation to include pressure, level, flow, temperature, vibration, control valves, and process analyzers.
  • Process Safety Management (High Hazard Process/Low Hazard Operation) experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and manage multiple, complex, time-sensitive projects.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical installations (Motor Control Centers, etc.).
  • Demonstrated skill in team building and achieving results through influence and negotiation.

Requirements:


  • BS in engineering discipline required
  • 2+ years of manufacturing or related experience required
  • Working knowledge of the Rockwell ControlLogix platform and FactoryTalk View SE
  • Effective in troubleshooting automation networks (Ethernet and ControlNet), servo drives, and variable frequency drives.
