Role Overview
The Associate/Senior Commercial Manager will support the successful commercial management of projects, ensuring robust governance from mobilisation through to operational phases. The ideal candidate will bring at least 10–15 years of commercial management experience, focusing on pre-contract activities. This role includes leading commercial strategies, training commercial teams, and supporting financial objectives to drive project success.
Key Responsibilities
Commercial Strategy and Pre-Contract Support:
- Develop and implement commercial strategies to guide pre-contract activities and align project objectives.
- Coordinate commercial agreements with third parties, sub-consultants, and other sectors within AtkinsRéalis.
- Work with project teams to manage contracts and deliver against financial targets and contracted profit margins.
Project and Financial Oversight:
- Support the commercial administration process, including change control, variation tracking, and risk management.
- Provide guidance on billing, cash flow, debt management, and claims preparation to enhance project financial health.
- Oversee audits, compliance assessments, and monthly financial reports for projects to ensure alignment with project requirements.
Client and Stakeholder Relations:
- Build and maintain strong client relationships, offering commercial insights and support for project delivery.
- Engage with project teams to ensure robust risk management practices and accurate financial reporting.
- Train and mentor commercial teams in contract management, risk identification, and claims preparation.
Requirements
Education:
- Degree (BEng/BSc) in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
- Professional membership (MRICS, MCIOB, MCIPS, MCIArb) is preferred.
Experience:
- 10–15 years of relevant experience, including senior commercial roles in large-scale projects.
- Experience with contracts, sub-contracts, financial models, and claims management, ideally within infrastructure, residential, or mixed-use projects.
- Strong skills in negotiation, risk management, and financial oversight.
Technical Knowledge:
- Familiarity with contract and commercial correspondence and financial analysis.
- Proficient in design lifecycle processes, cost planning, and variation management.
- Expertise in QS software (Cost X or similar) and an understanding of project lifecycle requirements.
Highly Desirable
- Middle East experience and familiarity with regional commercial practices.
- Previous exposure to multi-disciplinary design, engineering controls, and design-build project processes.
