Job Description

Overview

As an Instructor Pilot specializing in the AH-64E aircraft and supporting simulation devices, the role involves executing diverse responsibilities. This includes conducting initial ATP integration, continuation training, the Initial Aircraft Qualification Course (AQC), Aircraft Qualification Training (AQT), and evaluating employee and customer crewmembers based on the requirements outlined in the US Army Aircrew Training Manual (ATM) and MNG Modernization Training Plan. The duties encompass delivering academic and hands-on performance training, administering evaluations to ensure aircrew proficiency, and maintaining the Individual Aircrew Training Folder (IATF) with requisite training, currency, and readiness entries. In addition to conducting AH-64E and gunnery instruction in a classroom setting, this position entails providing flight instruction in both the aircraft and flight training devices. This involves delivering contact, basic instrument, and basic combat skills training to meet US Army standards as per the government-approved ATM. The instructional methods may include a combination of individual or group sessions in academic classrooms, aircraft, or simulators.



Responsibilities
  • Train and evaluate Aviation pilots in the AH-64E aircraft in accordance with the US Army ATM and specific unit ATP guidelines.
  • Support the development and execution of an Aviation Aircrew Training Program in accordance with customer guidance.
  • Verify and confirm that all required flight training publications are current and complete.
  • Conduct and evaluate individual readiness level progression tasks, to include instrument flight tasks during day, night, night vision system (NVS), and night vision goggle (NVG), and instrument flight rules (IFR).
  • Prepare crewmembers through realistic mission training flight maneuvers under local environmental conditions to include dust landings, and weather specific desert training.
  • Provide aircrew proficiency training in Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC) in and outside controlled airspace under Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and or international Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) flight rules.
  • Attends meetings as required by Customer/s.
  • Recommend aviation instructor pilot and Pilot in Command appointments to customer leadership.
  • Attends and provides training and mission planning input to the weekly scheduling meeting based on ATP requirements.
  • Acts as ATP mentor within the company standardization and battalion standardization team as needed by the customer to include Master Gunner training and mentorship.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship for field exercises at tenant locations.
  • IP duties may be required at offsite locations based on customer’s needs.
  • Performs within the broad guidelines of duties and responsibilities with significant choice of methods.
  • Authority to select and implement goals and objectives within the execution of duties and responsibilities.
  • May be assigned as project lead in order to support program goals within the guidance of the PWS to include technical writing of aviation documents.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in related field is beneficial.
  • Must have been qualified as a pilot in command.
  • Graduate of the AH-64 Instructor Pilot Course (IPC)/Methods of Instruction (MOI) course at an authorized U.S. Army Aviation Proponent School or an IP equivalency evaluation administered by a standardization instructor pilot (SP) selected by the Directorate of Evaluations and Standardization (DES) required.
  • Qualified on the AH-64E Series Aircraft required.
  • Master Gunner course qualification preferred. Master Gunner experience at the battalion or brigade level is recommended.
  • Minimum of 1500 total flight hours (total time). Minimum of 500 flight hours Instructor Pilot time. Minimum of 250 flight hours NVS/NVG.
  • FAA Commercial Pilot certificate required.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) recommended.
  • Successfully pass the FAA Class II Flight Physical upon hire, and annually thereafter required.
  • Experience: Mission (Attack, Observation, Utility, Multi-Mission) operations preferred.
