In order to fill this role effectively, the person taking on the role will need to have a range of qualities, competencies, and experience. The Sustainability/Service as Action Coordinator should be an inspirational, passionate, and adaptable leader who is committed to fostering environmental responsibility and global citizenship. They should have excellent interpersonal skills, be a creative problem solver, and be capable of driving sustainability initiatives and service-learning programs that align with the IB philosophy and the school’s core values.
1. Knowledge and Skills. He/Sheshould:
1.1 model the behaviours and values promoted by the school and act as a role model for colleagues and students.
1.2 Demonstrate a passion for environmental sustainability and community service.
1.3 Have strong organizational and leadership skills to manage multiple initiatives effectively.
1.4 Be resourceful and innovative in developing sustainability strategies and service-learning opportunities.
1.5 Possess strong collaboration skills to work effectively with staff, students, parents, and external partners.
1.6 Have an awareness of current developments in sustainability and service-learning education.
1.7 Be able to inspire students and staff to participate actively in sustainability and service projects.
