SENIOR LIGHTING ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
The purpose of the job of a Senior Lighting Engineer is to lead the design, implementation, and management of lighting systems in various projects, ensuring they meet aesthetic, functional, and technical requirements. Senior Lighting Engineers are responsible for creating lighting solutions that enhance the visual appeal, safety, and functionality of spaces while adhering to industry standards and project specifications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To lead and innovate in developing lighting designs for major infrastructure and building projects, manage stakeholder coordination, ensure project excellence, and mentor technical teams.
• Preparing master plans from Concept stage to Detailed Master Plan stage in terms of Lighting, utility corridor space proofing, defining ROW requirements, coordination with wet utilities, ICT, Telecom, roads, transportation, landscape and building design teams.
• Develop Master plan report, load calculations, tie in point requirements.
• Full understanding of dry utilities and infrastructure projects from Concept to IFC stage.
• Verifying clash analysis and resolving the clashes in 3D models.
• Coordinate and liaise with Utility Agency representatives and Contractor with regards to all construction approvals and design changes, as necessary.
• Attending meetings with the client and preparing minutes of meeting.
• Shall be responsible for liaising with PWA, MME/PPD, QCDD, for obtaining Design Approvals/ NOCs and all related designs preparations.
• Carrying out Value Engineering for various technical options and preparing Value Engineering reports with recommendations.
• Monitor materials submissions and approvals and review updating of Materials Schedule to mitigate any construction delays.
• Preparing Clarifications to Contractor RFIs, Review/approve key technical submittals related to lighting and electrical works.
• Review of design reports prepared by other consultants and preparation of design review reports.
• Preparation of design reports, specifications, tender documents and securing design approvals for different project phases including coordination with client/authorities/sub consultants.
• Additional Experience in the fields electrical design of building services would be an advantage.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification
• Candidate must have MME/ MMUP / UPDA.
• Must be internationally recognized with engineering licenses such as PE, CPEng, CEng
• 12 years relevant experience in Electrical Design of Large Infrastructure projects including Street lighting network with minimum 5 years in similar Senior Electrical Engineer position.
• Must have thorough knowledge of National Electrical Code, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA and IEC and various local authority standards in the GCC like Kahramaa, DEWA, ADDC, SEWA, FEWA, SEC, MEDC, Civil Defense, etc.
• Strong infrastructure engineering background with previous experience on infrastructure projects with understanding of the requirements for Street lighting, Landscape lighting, Tunnels/ underpass lighting and Indoor and outdoor lighting including performance of lighting calculation, Voltage drop calculations using PWA/Ashghal approved software.
• Experience in civil 3D, Navisworks environment and BIM software as well as Revit software is also necessary.
• Extensive experience and proficiency in using Agi32, DiaLux Evo, ETAP to perform lighting calculation and Advanced Power system analysis, fault current, load flow analysis for power networks.
• Must have thorough knowledge of Qatar Highway Design Manual (QHDM), National Electrical Code, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, NFPA and IEC and various local authority standards in the GCC like Kahramaa. Qatar Civil Defense, PWA, SEC, DEWA
• Must have the ability to develop strong working relationships with third party client, consultants, contractors, and local authorities.
