MECHANICAL ENGINEER

PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

The purpose of the job of a Mechanical Engineer is to design, develop, and optimize mechanical systems, products, and components that meet specific functional requirements and performance standards. Their work involves creating detailed technical drawings, performing simulations, and ensuring that designs are safe, efficient, cost-effective, and compliant with industry regulations and client specifications.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• To conduct and support the delivery of complete mechanical designs for foul sewer, treated water and storm water pumping stations and treatment systems.
• Carry out mechanical design for Foul sewer, treated water and storm water pumping stations to PWA standards and quality as and when assigned by the team lead.
  
• Familiar with water treatment systems.
• Familiar with HVAC, Plumbing & Firefighting discipline designs for the pumping stations and utility buildings.
• Coordination with other Discipline Engineers as applicable.
• Coordinate with BIM/CAD Technicians concerning project requirements and timelines.
• Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met in all designs.
• Support the project submittals and No Objection Certificates (NOC) process to the relevant Authorities.
• Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.
• Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables.
• Ensure that Health & Safety is embedded into all work practices in line with company policies.
• Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Seniors or MEP manager.
• Attend and contribute to team and project meetings as required.
• Complete accurate time sheets by set deadline.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelors degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Minimum 5-10 years of overall experience.
• Must have extensive experience in design development.
• Advanced proficiency in relevant software including AutoCAD, BIM/Revit.
• Knowledge of Water Gems, HAP, Elite etc. preferred.
• Must have thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Excellent written and oral communication.
• Extensive experience in Doha/Qatar is highly preferred.
