Job Description

Position Summary

The position is responsible for managing the IACUC (Institutional Animal Care & Use Committee), IBC (Institutional Biosafety Committee), and DSMB (Data and Safety Monitoring Board) committees’ requirements ensuring compliance with ethical guidelines, regulations, and institutional policies. The position conducts the COI (Conflict of Interest) survey compliance review and training, and ensures medical clearance for research personnel is completed. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manages end-to-end operational activities for IACUC, DSMB, and IBC committees, including reviews, submissions, inspections, conducting meetings and post-meeting activities, appointment of members, and non-compliance reporting.
  • Manages COI annual surveys submitted by all WCM-Q employees and study-specific COI reports submitted to WCM-Q by internal and external research personnel.
  • Ensures employees and researchers are medically cleared before participation in research activities through the OHP and follows up with annual renewals.
  • Conveys applicable regulations & institutional policies in IACUC, DSMB and IBC meetings and oversees the pre- and post-meeting activities.
  • Conducts QI/QA reviews of specific work areas, develops metrics, and identifying issues and recommending improvements.
  • Contributes to developing and implementing research compliance policies and procedures, emphasising periodic reviews for IACUC/OHP/IBC policies and procedures.
  • Supports in maintaining IACUC and IBC Assurances with the relevant Regulatory Authorities, IACUC/IBC Registrations, and other IACUC/IBC Agreements per WCMQ policies and Federal & Qatar regulations.
  • Assists the Human Subject Research Protection team during routine audit of HSR.
  • Serves as an initial contact for internal or external compliance-related questions and complaints and assigns them to appropriate team members.
  • Assists the leadership in conducting Investigations (misconduct, COI, complaints, etc).
  • Conducts administrative reviews of grant proposals and relevants contracts/agreements submitted to the research grant office, determining the need for IACUC and/or IBC review.
  • Supports leadership with Export Control research-related activities.
  • Manages the research Professional Liability Insurance updates and annual reporting, contributes to the compliance website, and manages subordinate team members to ensure smooth operations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
