JOB SUMMARY:
The Health Informaticist, specializing in patient care processes and clinician workflow, functions as a leader, consultant, educator, and evaluator. S/he leads the initiatives to promote effective process design, development, and implementation of the electronic medical record (EMR) and other technology enhancements. This includes the primary responsibilities of determining the needs and requirements for clinical applications within the acute and ambulatory healthcare settings. The post holder collaborates with end users, through facility-wide committees and councils, to help define healthcare information problems and solutions. The Informaticist promotes the adoption and integration of information, information systems, and technology in clinical settings and practice, and supports clinical transformation for optimal patient care through the use of evidence-based clinical practice and workflow standardization across Sidra Medicine.
KEY ROLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Recommends and delivers clinical informatics solutions. Integrates technology into clinical practices and ensures its adoption by clinicians through education and research.
- Applies clinical informatics and clinical transformation principles and practices in all aspects and clinical transformation to deliver high quality, safe and effective solutions.
- Assesses user and stakeholder needs to design, develop, and implement information systems that improve operational efficiency.
- Assesses and plans the delivery and medium of informatics education to be provided to the staff. Evaluates effectiveness of training and training material. Works towards continual improvement and identifies areas of improved education informatics that support enhancement in patient care, education and research.
- Documents and reports all education activities against policy and compliance standards including progress and potential problems.
- Supports the assessment of competence related to systems education, and audits compliance with Sidra Standards of Care.
- Consults on the design or optimization of workflows in the use of health information systems and ensure the system meets clinical needs.
- Optimizes the use of electronic health records (EHRs) and other clinical systems.
- Develops health information systems that support data collection and integration.
- Manages and safeguard patient data to comply with regulations.
- Advises on the implementation and optimization of health IT systems.
- Analyzes healthcare data to guide strategic decisions.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
ESSENTIAL PREFERRED Education Bachelor’s degree in a clinical field, informatics, or healthcare administration with an informatics component.
Advanced degrees (master’s or doctoral) in a clinical field (Nursing, Medicine, Allied Health), informatics or healthcare administration with an informatics component. Experience 7+ years of clinical experience in an academic medical Center including use and participation in implementation of clinical information systems (preferably Oracle/Cerner), including 2 years experience in clinical informatics, management, education, or clinical research.
7 + years clinical experience in an academic medical Center including use and participation in implementation of clinical information systems, including 5 years’ experience in informatics, management, education or research. Certification and Licensure Certifications as a Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CPHIMS), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), or Nursing Informatics (RN-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC). Professional Membership Job Specific Skills and Abilities - Strong understanding of both healthcare and IT, problem-solving, communication, and project management.

- Demonstrated conceptual and analytical skills to define educational needs of healthcare professionals.
- Ability to perform an educational needs assessment.
- Ability to create online eLearning modules.

- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite
- Fluency in written and spoken English
- Working Oracle/Cerner experience.
- Understanding of Healthcare data regulatory compliance.
