Job overview
We are looking to appoint an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic individual to lead as Head of Art & Photography. The successful candidate will be teaching Key Stages 3 to 5 Fine Art and will be responsible for the day-to-day running of a busy department, instilling a passion for Art and Photography in students, and monitoring and evaluating student achievement, as well as contributing to accomplishing the College’s vision and mission.
The Art and Photography Department consists of four full-time teachers and offers a rich program of Art education at all levels from Key Stage 3, leading to GCSE and A Level examinations. At Key Stage 3, the department offers its own teaching programme, which is based on the UK curriculum and tailored to the needs of an international student body. At Key Stage 4, a two-year linear GCSE course with Edexcel/Pearson is offered in both Art and Photography. This is also mirrored in the 6th Form, where we offer A Level qualifications in Fine Art and Photography. The department is highly successful and well-established, regularly securing “highest mark in the world” for its examination students across both GCSE and A Level.
All our classrooms are equipped with interactive smartboards and displays, all students are furnished with an iPad upon entry, and all staff and students use Google Classroom.
About you
The successful candidate will be an outstanding role model within the Department and within the College as a whole. Candidates should have demonstrated success in their current role, be highly motivated and successful practitioners in Fine Art with experience in painting, printmaking and ceramics and above all else, have a real passion for the subject. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including extra-curricular activities.
We are a British international school and all of our lessons are taught in English, less for children from Arabic speaking nations when placed in compulsory subjects. A high standard of written and spoken English is, therefore, essential. Applicants should be willing to contribute in a positive manner to all aspects of the school vision, including co-curricular activities.
