The Geotechnical Engineer is responsible for investigating and analyzing the physical properties of soil, rock, and other subsurface materials to design foundations, slopes, retaining structures, and other civil engineering projects. This role involves conducting fieldwork, laboratory testing, and using specialized software to assess the stability, risk, and safety of construction projects. The Geotechnical Engineer collaborates closely with civil engineers, architects, and project managers to ensure that designs are safe, efficient, and compliant with relevant regulations. He will get to design and review the design of various types of structures including bridges, tunnels, underpasses, retaining walls, car parks, and public infrastructure-related buildings/structures.
