About the job General Physician (6 months Contact)
  • Diagnoses and treats work-related illnesses injuries of employees and conducts fitness-for-duty physical examinations.
  • Attends patients in plant or hospital and reexamines disability cases periodically to verify progress.
  • Oversees maintenance of case histories, health examination reports and other medical records.
  • Periodic assessments of workplace hazards and suggestions as to the prevention of work-related injuries.
  • To conduct periodic medical screening for all employees and to identify high risk patients and to initiative individualized treatment plans for those identified with high blood sugar (diabetes), high blood pressure (hypertension) and high cholesterol.
  • To align the functioning of the site nurse in sync with Ashghal departmental health and wellness KPIs.
  • To conduct chronic diseases screening as per Ashghal guidelines
  • To conduct mental wellness screening as per Ashghal guidelines
  • To initiate individualised treatment plans for each worker identified with chronic disease.
  • Review of the physical demands and essential duties of all assigned jobs on the property.
  • Periodic visits to the site to assist the Joint Health and Safety committee in problem areas.
  • Reinforcement of health and safety.
  • Setting up preventive medicine programs and screening.
  • Assistance in referring employees to drug or alcohol rehabilitation centers if required within the Employee and Family Assistance Program.
  • Pre-placement medical exams to determine the workers abilities to perform the essential duties of the assigned job.
  • Return to work medical examinations after an accident or illness to determine the employees restrictions and to recommend to the company any accommodations that may be required.
  • To provide liaison between the employees personal physician and the company in cases of difficult return to work.
  • To communicate with Ministry of Health adjudicators and nurse case managers in assisting an injured employee to return to work in a timely and safe fashion.
  • To be responsible for confidential health records.
  • To be available to the human resources superintendent and supervisors on a daily basis for advice or same day referrals as the need arises.
  • To provide liaison between injured workers and their personal physician regarding the level of functioning and stamina required returning to the workplace.
  • To assist in the formulation of medical policy at the direction of the manager.
  • Lines of communication are to the manager with liaison to those employees of the company concerned with health and safety.
  • Other work duties may be described based on the business/industry needs from - company doctor - position.

MINIMUM SKILLS REQUIRED:


  • Must have a valid QCHP license
  • Must have at least 2 years experience as a General Physician/Site Doctor
  • Must be willing to work for a 6 months contract
  • Must be able to join immediately
