The Food Safety and Hygiene Officer is responsible to ensure compliance with food safety regulations and standards in a food service establishment. This involves developing and implementing food safety policies and procedures, conducting inspections and audits, and providing training to staff on proper food handling and hygiene practices. Additionally, Food Safety and Hygiene Officers may investigate foodborne illness outbreaks, collaborate with regulatory agencies, and monitor sanitation practices to maintain a safe and hygienic environment for food preparation and service. Their primary goal is to prevent foodborne illnesses and ensure the safety and quality of food products served to customers.
Perform audit, inspection, and verification activities to ensure food businesses are complying with all facets of the Food and Safety regulations
Provide accurate and appropriate information, advice as well as recommendations
Maintain a good knowledge and understanding of food safety principles, food technology, food microbiology, food legislation, food industry issues and trends.
Provide support in fulfilling relevant authority objectives in accordance with the relevant work plan and ensure effective and efficient food safety services are provided.
Gather and disseminate operational information and data as required informing operational objectives.
Provision of quality technical information and advice on compliance issues.
Fulfill Authority objectives by undertaking functions and activities in an effective and efficient manner in accordance with policies and procedures.
Conduct investigations and initiate appropriate enforcement actions to a high service level, in a timely fashion, to comply with Food Authority policies and procedures.
Comprehensive knowledge of local and international food safety regulations, including HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles, FDA (Food and Drug Administration) guidelines, and ISO (International Organization for Standardization) standards.
Understanding of proper food handling, storage, and sanitation practices to prevent contamination and ensure food safety throughout the food service establishment.
Ability to assess potential food safety risks and hazards in food handling processes, identify critical control points, and implement measures to mitigate risks and maintain food safety.
Skill in providing effective training and education to food service staff on food safety principles, hygiene practices, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and promote a culture of food safety.
Inspection and Auditing: Proficiency in conducting food safety inspections and audits of food service establishments, evaluating compliance with regulations and standards, and recommending corrective actions to address deficiencies and improve food safety practices.
ERP knowledge preferably SAP functional skills are a requirement to be successful in this role.
Minimum 5 year(s) working experience, 3 year(s) relevant working experience, 2 year (s) GCC is a plus
