EMS Engineer, uCMDB
JOB PURPOSE
The primary responsibility of the EMS Engineer is to develop, define and maintain the technology standards for Enterprise Management Systems specific discipline. The EMS Engineer will use his/her advanced knowledge and technical expertise, coupled with his/her dedication to customer service, to deliver service excellence to MEEZA and its clients.
The EMS Engineer will also be responsible for the day to day installation, administration, and management of the Enterprise Management Systems
The EMS Engineer should seek out new ways to improve the customers service experience throughout their functional area(s) including technical and service management disciplines (process).
The EMS Engineer is responsible for the technical and process standards for the Enterprise Management Systems discipline and work
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and EXPERIENCE
5+ years in IT services or related service-based organisation
5 years in a role of technical and/or process ownership
Certifications in ITIL highly desirable
Strong knowledge of MicroFocus uCMDB (version 2019.05 or later) and its architecture.
Experience in uCMDB Administration - managing discovery, integrations, and data reconciliation.
Hands-on experience with Discovery & Integration - configuring probes, data flow adapters, and integrating with SMAX and OBM
Expertise in uCMDB Query Language (TQL)creating and optimizing queries for CI retrieval and reporting.
Proficiency in uCMDB REST API & Web Services for automation and data exchange.
Understanding of CIs & Relationships - including CI types, attributes, and reconciliation rules.
Experience with Universal Discovery (UD)configuring and troubleshooting agent-based and agentless discovery.
Strong scripting skills - Python, PowerShell, or Shell scripting for automation.
Experience with database queries for troubleshooting and reporting.
Familiarity with ITSM & ITOM processes - Incident, Change, Problem, and Asset Management.
Knowledge of CMDB best practices - data governance, reconciliation, and compliance.
Experience in troubleshooting discovery and integration issues - log analysis, debugging, and performance optimization.
Ability to work with cross-functional teams - NOC, ServiceDesk, Infrastructure, and Application teams.
Good documentation skills - creating technical guides, SOPs, and process documentation.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills - with a proactive approach to issue resolution.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills with specific focus on technical and operational documentation
