Job SummaryThe role of Boat Captain involves the management and operation of watercraft to ensure safe operations and navigation of boats, enforce safety protocols, provide excellent customer service, respond to emergencies, and perform routine maintenance to ensure a secure and enjoyable experience for passengers. In addition, the role manages the operating and maintaining of various water sports equipment, performing equipment maintenance, conducting safety briefings, and monitoring water conditions, and managing booking and scheduling through the Company's reservation system.Job Responsibilities 1Safely operate and navigate watercraft.Handle different types of boats and understanding the specific challenges posed by the aquatic environment.Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and cargo is a top priority for a boat captain. This includes implementing and enforcing safety procedures, conducting regular safety drills, and being prepared to respond to emergencies.Strong understanding of navigation principles, including the use of charts, GPS systems, and other navigational tools. Able to plan routes, avoid obstacles, and navigate safely through various water conditions.Effective communication with their crew, passengers, and other vessels to ensure smooth operations and address any issues that may arise. This includes using radios, signaling devices, and other communication tools.Responsible for the basic maintenance and upkeep of the vessel. This includes routine inspections, checking equipment, and addressing minor repairs. They may work closely with maintenance crews to ensure the vessel is in optimal condition.Adhere to maritime regulations, laws, and safety standards. This includes understanding local and international maritime laws, as well as any specific regulations related to the type of operations they are involved in.Aware of and adhere to environmental regulations to minimize the impact of their operations on aquatic ecosystems.Trained to emergencies, such as medical incidents, accidents, or adverse weather conditions. This includes coordinating evacuation procedures and liaising with emergency services when necessary.
