Job Description
OBJECTIVE
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to customers in a professional, courteous, and timely manner. This role involves interacting with customers, maintaining a clean and organized workspace, and ensuring all equipment operates properly. The Barista must adhere to all food safety and quality regulations.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Prepare and serve a variety of coffee and tea drinks, following standard recipes and customer specifications.
- Operate espresso machines, grinders, and other equipment to make beverages.
- Maintain knowledge of coffee blends, roasts, and origins.
- Greet customers warmly and take their orders accurately.
- Engage with customers in a friendly and professional manner.
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints promptly.
- Process transactions using the cash register or point-of-sale (POS) system.
- Handle cash, credit, and debit card transactions, ensuring accurate pricing and billing.
- Maintain a balanced cash drawer and report discrepancies.
- Keep the bar area clean and organized, including countertops, equipment, and seating areas.
- Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning schedules.
- Ensure all equipment is properly cleaned and maintained.
- Monitor stock levels and restock supplies as needed.
- Report inventory shortages to the supervisor.
- Assist in inventory counts and ordering supplies.
- Ensure all beverages are prepared to standard quality.
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines.
- Report any issues with product quality or equipment to the manager.
- Manages inventory and ensures par stock levels are correct and maintained at all times.
- Provides Restaurant Management with update on required additional beverage purchase orders
- Understands key functionalities of MICROS system
- Participates in functions and activities with other outlets when required
- Knows and recalls provenance, ingredients per beverage
- Creates new mock tails/hot beverages as per management directives or seasons adhering to industry trends
