Access Services Qatar Support Specialist - in a
part-time
role
based at the Georgetown University Library in Washington, DC - supports the teaching, learning, and research of faculty, students, and staff at the Georgetown University School of Foreign Service (SFS-Q) campus in Doha, Qatar. Their work schedule is 8 am to Noon, Monday-Friday, in the Access Services Department of Georgetown University Library. Duties include, but are not limited to:
Fulfill Qatar users' requests for books, media, book chapters and articles, expediting delivery of these items.
Oversee Service/Reserves Desk, Stacks, and Resource Sharing support.
Work Interactions
The Access Services Qatar Support Specialist reports directly to the Resource Sharing Services Supervisor, who in turn reports directly to the Access Services Department Head, along with 11 FTE positions.
In the Access Services Department, the Access Services Qatar Support Specialist communicates via email and through various systems with SFS Q-Library staff. The incumbent works closely with Access Services staff in Resource Sharing, fulfilling Print Collections, circulation and special project assignments; and interacts daily with students, faculty and staff as during regularly scheduled shifts. They work closely with SFS-Q Library staff and participate in supporting the operations of the Access Services Department of Georgetown University Library to the mutual benefit of both libraries; and work on special projects and other duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree
1year library of experience
Demonstrated familiarity with the role of academic libraries meeting the information needs of students, faculty, and staff
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong public service orientation
Computer literate - familiar with Windows desktop, word processing, Excel, and e-mail software Familiarity with reformatting technologies (Adobe Capture, Adobe Acrobat)
Ability to adjust to periods of increased workflow and to work as part of a team in a complex, changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience searching bibliographic databases and integrated library systems
1 year of Academic Library experience
Ability to be diplomatic and negotiate disputes
Supervisory experience
