About the job X-Ray Grade Plate Welder
Job Overview:
The X-Ray Grade Plate Welder is responsible for high-quality welding on structural plates and components used in shipbuilding and heavy engineering. This role requires precision welding that meets X-ray inspection standards to ensure durability and safety.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform GTAW, SMAW, and other welding techniques on thick steel and alloy plates, ensuring welds are defect-free and suitable for X-ray inspection.
- Prepare plate surfaces before welding, conduct thorough post-weld inspections, and perform X-ray tests to verify weld quality.
- Follow shipyard safety protocols, including confined space and elevated work safety, to maintain a secure work environment.
- Set up, operate, and maintain welding equipment, ensuring it meets required specifications.
- Record inspection results and welding details, and report any issues that may affect quality or safety.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or certification in Welding or Metal Fabrication.
- 3+ years experience in X-ray grade plate welding
- Skills: Proficient in multiple welding techniques, X-ray inspection, and quality standards.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to work in confined spaces, at heights, and in challenging conditions.
