Qualification
Certification in Welding, Boiler-making, or a related trade.
Experience
Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Welder/Boilermaker, preferably in the mining or heavy industrial sector.
Requirements
- Proficiency in welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, Stick, and arc welding.
- Experience working with various metals, including steel, stainless steel, and aluminum.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.
- Strong understanding of safety regulations and best practices for welding and fabrication.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging conditions, including confined spaces and elevated areas.
Responsibilities
- Perform welding, cutting, and fabrication tasks to repair or construct metal structures, components, and equipment.
- Assemble and maintain boilers, tanks, and pressure vessels as required.
- Conduct inspections to identify wear, damage, or defects in equipment and recommend appropriate repairs.
- To ensure accurate fabrication and installation, read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications.
- Operate welding equipment (MIG, TIG, Stick) and cutting tools safely and efficiently.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and repairs on pipelines, machinery, and structural components.
- Ensure proper alignment and fitment of fabricated parts and perform quality checks on welds.
- Comply with safety standards and protocols, particularly regarding the handling of hazardous materials and working in high-risk environments.
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, including weld logs and inspection reports.
- Collaborate with maintenance and operations teams to prioritize and execute welding and fabrication tasks effectively.
- Participate in emergency repair activities to minimize operational downtime.
