DigitalOcean's Developer Content Team creates written and multimedia content that delights developers and empowers them to grow on DigitalOcean. Our Community Site provides developers with high-quality tutorials and guides on SysAdmin and DevOps topics, including Ubuntu, Java, Python, and other cloud infrastructure and AI/ML topics.
 

We’re looking for a Technical Content Engineer to help maintain, validate, and optimize our extensive library of developer tutorials. This role is ideal for a technically proficient engineer who enjoys working with Linux, cloud technologies, and programming languages who has an interest in educating other developers on how to use different technologies—we are open to a range of candidates, even if you have not held a specific writing/content role in the past.
 

• Review and update existing tutorials to ensure accuracy, code correctness, and alignment with best practices in cloud computing, DevOps, and open-source technologies.
• Validate code snippets, commands, and configurations for Ubuntu, Java, Python, and other technologies in real-world developer environments.
• Rewrite and reorganize content for clarity and readability and implement SEO best practices in content updates to improve search rankings and discoverability.
• Contribute to content guidelines and best practices, ensuring consistency and quality across tutorials.
• Utilize Markdown, GitHub, and CMS platforms to manage and publish content efficiently.

• 3-5 years of experience in a technical content role or a software engineering/sysadmin position with writing experience.
• Hands-on experience in SysAdmin, DevOps, or software engineering, with proficiency in Ubuntu, cloud computing, and scripting languages like Python or Bash preferred.
• Strong technical writing and editing skills, with an ability to make complex concepts clear and accessible.
• Familiarity with SEO, content analytics, and search optimization is a plus.
• Experience using Markdown and GitHub is preferred.
