Job Role:

Reporting to the Clinical Engineering Manager,Biomedical Engineering (BME), we are looking for an experienced and individual to join our team as a Specialist, Biomedical Engineering.

The incumbent will work under minimal supervision to provide support in the repair, troubleshoot calibration, and maintenance of biomedical and electromechanicaldevices. The person would be under general supervision and using the tools and techniques of biomedical technology.

 Key Responsibilities and Deliverables: 

• Responsible for repair and maintenance of medical equipment (preferable in laboratory equipment’s) and responsibilities within the specialties of the appointee 
• Effective Correspondence and regular follow-ups till conclusion on assigned Work orders/Tasks for timely completion and for resource or spares requirements. 
• Carry out planned preventive maintenance inspections, installation commissioning and test in accordance with the departmental procedures / work instructions and proper documentation of the maintenance records; Review outcome of preventive maintenance action and make recommendations to department staff concerning improvements.
• Ensure proper safety standards for all medical equipment (preferable in laboratory equipment’s) and appliances used at AKUH; Ensure that the overall activities meet the requirements of quality management and environmental policies and legal requirements. 
• Provide timely feedback to supervisor/manager on assigned and ongoing tasks 
• To provide technical and administrative support in the internal audits, incident management and clinical quality records review program. 
• Identify aging and obsolete patient care equipment to manager and provide recommendation for replacement with justification. 
• Prepare documentation and maintain records pertaining to all repairs, replacement parts, calibrations, and modifications of medical equipment in computerize maintenance management. 
• Attend breakdown and calls on medical equipment. as assigned by the manager as per rota or as when required. 
• Complete ad hoc assignments/tasks and other duties as assigned. 

Eligibility Criteria / Requirements:

• MSc, B.E or BSc. in Biomedical Engineering field with 5 years’ experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment. 
• Considerable knowledge of electronic circuitry and ability to technical aspects of the operation, analyse. test, repair, and maintenance of electronic and electromechanical equipment. 
• Substantial knowledge of basic anatomy. Physiology and medical terminologies. 
• Basic knowledge of computer and applications (word. excel, power point) along with networking. 
• Basic knowledge of current regulatory and safety requirements the ability to learn technical concepts, new skills, and knowledge quickly.  Comprehensive employment reference checks will be conducted.
