As a Software Engineer III at JPMorgan Chase within the Consumer & Community Bank - API Marketplace team, you are an integral part of an agile team that works to enhance, build, and deliver trusted market-leading technology products in a secure, stable, and scalable way. You’ll participate in a community of users. You’ll serve as a technical expert and evangelize our platform to increase adoption. You’ll collect feedback, think strategically and work closely with the team to find creative ways to automate and improve our tools and documentation.


Job responsibilities


  • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
  • Identifies opportunities to eliminate or automate remediation of recurring issues to improve overall operational stability of software applications and systems
  • Contributes to software engineering communities of practice
  • Speaks to users of the application and ask about technical features and improvements, then using your software engineering background go to the development team and explain what is required to implement said features and improvements.
  • Develops secure and high-quality production code
  • Leads design and development of new microservices and tooling
  • Leads communities of practice across Software Engineering to drive awareness and use of new and leading-edge technologies
  • Promotes decisions that influence the product design, application functionality and technical operations and processes
  • Adds to team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 3+ years applied experience
  • The ability to translate business and user requirements from users to developers and vice versa.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work in large, collaborative teams to achieve organizational goals, and passionate about building a culture of innovation
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a customer focus
  • Advanced application development experience using Java/Spring Boot in microservices applications, and JVM languages such as Kotlin or Scala
  • Hands-on practical experience delivering system design, application development, testing, and operational stability and deployment strategies and support of REST API interfaces or GraphQL
  • Proven Knowledge of cloud native architecture, microservice architecture, container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Proficient in all aspects of the Software Development Life Cycle
  • Intensely curious about technology and passionate about bringing an engineering mindset to the team
  • Experience with reliability practices and observability tools, such as CloudWatch, Prometheus, Datadog
  • Practical cloud native experience

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills


  • Experience with API management platform such as Apigee, AWS API GW, Kong, Spring cloud gateway
  • Experience with Identity and Access management services is a plus
