You will be part of our Information Technology's Clinical & Real-World Evidence Value team which has presence around the globe. This is a senior level Solution Architect position that leverages SaaS, COTS, Cloud, and analytical technical knowledge to promote sound architecture & engineering practices and solution in support of their modernization and digital transformation journey.
As one of the valued members of the Architecture chapter, you will articulate analytical ecosystem architectures and trends and provide technical consulting as a trusted advisor to support IT Architecture activities. This is a partnership-heavy role. You will partner closely with teams across IT and business organizations, Enterprise Architecture, Foundational Data and Analytics group and Product Lines across the Clinical Value Team.
As a solution architect for the Japan, China, and Asia Pacific regions, you will have additional responsibilities in designing and implementing technical solutions tailored to the APAC region, ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations while meeting client demands, and ensuring that these solutions are aligned with the architecture of global solutions. Your role will involve close collaboration with cross-functional teams to adapt global solutions to local requirements, focusing on initiatives such as cross-border data transfer and user identity management.
What will you do?
- Partner with data managers, biostatisticians, architects, engineers, and data scientists to understand their needs and challenges.
- Understand the complexity/dependencies between multiple teams, platforms (people, technologies) across US, China, Japan, and Asia Pacific.
- Understand local legal/regulatory requirements regarding data and technology (e.g. Cross Boarder Data Transfer) and ensure the solutions are compliant with the requirements.
- Validate alignment of business goals and strategies with technology. Negotiate and create the appropriate roadmaps to establish and support this alignment.
- Lead to drive disparate teams to delivery. Both internal technology teams as well as external parties through vendor management.
- Evaluate project constraints to find alternatives, alleviate risks, and perform process re-engineering if required. Find resolution to technical issues as they arise.
- Conduct architecture evaluations and collaborate with product team to develop solution architectures that fit the business needs.
- Collaborate with product teams/project teams to design global solution architectures that meet fit for both global and local needs.
- Support business functions to leverage low-code/no-code technologies and existing company solutions/platforms.
- Assess the financial impact of alternatives (e.g. solutions, products, etc.) to ensure cost efficiency and lowest possible Total Cost of Ownership to maintain competitive advantage.
- Foster the agile mindset for the rapid evaluation and evolution of reusable technology products that leverage digital technologies.
- Build a personal network of business and technology stakeholders necessary to achieve success. Actively participate in our communities of practice and communities of architects, to collaborate and align with peers and partnering organizations.
- Communicate, at scale, through multiple mediums: presentations, dashboards, company-wide datasets and more.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience Required
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a Solution Architect or similar role
- System analysis and design experience in scalable applications
- Strong technical leadership and vendor management skills
- Great organization skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Self-driven with the ability to work in a self-guided manner
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience with GxP validations, focus on GCP (Good Clinical Practices) would be a major plus
- Experience with System Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- In-depth understanding of database structure principles, SQL and NoSQL concepts
- Experience with Cloud services like AWS and Azure
- Strong software engineering and programming background in at least two languages (such as Java, Python, Go, JavaScript, etc.)
- Understanding of IaC (Infrastructure as a Code)
Nice to have
- Experience in Clinical, and Medical domain experience
- Knowledge of any enterprise integration platform, e.g. Mulesoft
- Appian experience
- Hands on experience with DevOps automation in software engineering (Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform)
- Working in Agile Environment (Kanban, Scrum)
- DevOps culture and practice
- Veeva Vault experience
- Data integration tools and frameworks (e.g.ETL tools, DI Framework) experience
- Understanding of User Authentication/API management solutions (e.g., OAuth, OpenID Connect)
- Knowledge of CBDT
- Consent Management platforms and related technologies experience
- Low code platform/data analysis experience
