Introduction  


The CITRIC Center for Clinical Best Practices (CCBP) is pioneering the adaptation of evidence-based clinical practice guidelines for Pakistan; to help standardize and improve the quality of care across the country.


Evidence-Based Medicine is clinical decision making incorporating the best available evidence, patient perspectives and experience, resulting in improved patient outcomes and quality of care.


Aga Khan University Medical College CCBP will adopt, adapt and develop evidence-based guidelines and care pathways to standardize and improve health outcomes and quality of health care in Low and Middle-Income Countries. It will also develop relevant care pathways and clinical guidelines that are needed for AKU’s Electronic Health Record (EHR) system as it is rolled out to achieve standardization of care within and between AKU Hospitals, across our campuses. The center will channelize and consolidate resources and efforts to bring in the much needed standardized, high-quality evidence-based care to the communities where AKU exists; taking into account the local challenges and opportunities.


Aga Khan University invites applications for a full-time position of Senior Research Assistant in the Centre for Clinical Best Practices.   


Responsibilities:


Reporting to Manager CCBP, you will be responsible to assist the research team in conducting preliminary literature reviews, collecting and analyzing research data, completing manuscripts / grant applications, proofreading and editing any research documents and providing support to the Research Associate and Manager, CCBP to ensure smooth operations of the Centre.          


Specifically, you will be responsible to:


  • Creation of Evidence to Decision tables (EtD)
  • assess the research evidence, assist the panel of experts in creating recommendations and guidelines
  • work with Sections and Departments to coordinate guideline and manual writing
  • track progress of guideline creation using GANTT Charts
  • write the guidelines for submission to Section Heads and Chairs, as needed
  • complete guidelines for each section by stipulated timeline.
  • support education and training in evidence-based quality improvement to trainees, staff, and faculty.
  • closely coordinate with CCBP Associate Director, Section Heads.

Requirements:                       


You should have:


  • a minimum of MBBS/BSCN/Allied Health, or any other equivalent degree.
  • excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to collaborate with others (across geographies) on projects and investigations
  • a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in health science research
  • prior experience of development, maintenance and analysis of systematic reviews and guideline creation
  • medical chapter writing and guideline writing experience
  • experience in submission of international and national grants
  • knowledge of GRADE methodology preferable
  • proficiency in Experience with data presentation software programs, the use of computer applications, MS Office, EndNote and other relevant software
  • strong analytical, observational, time management, and problem-solving skills.
