The Department of Paediatrics and Child Health is committed to providing state-of-the-art clinical services to children. It imparts high-quality undergraduate and postgraduate training and subspecialty training and research opportunities. Besides the outpatient clinics, the inpatient set-up consists of a paediatric ward with two units comprising 84 beds, a state of art Neonatal Intensive care unit with the latest equipment and protocols in place, and a capacity of 24 high acuity beds with one is to one staffing along with 10 bedded level 2 care monitored cots. The Neonatal section offers a 2-year Neonatal fellowship training and is one the oldest and established fellowship programs with 6 fellows. In addition to care for sick babies, the section also provides services along with Pediatric consultants to the Well babies in the post-natal wards.


This is a grant funded contractual position. 


ResponsibilitiesYou will be responsible for:


  • providing research, clinical and technical support to the department faculty in developing grant proposals, initiating research activities, running clinics and research projects, and collaborating with other departments under the guidance of the supervisor
  • liaising with key partners for monitoring activities in different field operations and performing field monitoring visits to ensure data quality
  • ensuring ward rounds and teaching  as per hospital policies
  • supporting the supervisor in obtaining permissions from provincial health and administrative authorities for survey implementation
  • contributing directly to the development of a research strategy for ongoing research projects and preparing proposals to secure funding for research
  • identifying logistics for survey teams with the support of relevant departments and delegating tasks between teams for various project activities
  • coordinating with the data management unit for data-related issues and updates
  • collaborating with the team on key research talking points
  • tracking and reporting on research activities, progress, and outcomes
  • preparing and compiling periodic progress reports and presenting the study results as per requirements
  • conducting periodic reviews and evaluations of the efficiency of research efforts in collaboration with key internal and external stakeholders
  • participating in the conduct of workshops for capacity building with the supervisor and conducting research and publishing papers in academic journals
  • working in liaison with current researchers on identifying and developing future research and funding initiatives, developing and managing current and future research administration.

RequirementsYou should have:


  • a MBBS degree with experience in doing research and proof of scholarly output. However, a master’s degree in Public Health, PhD, FCPS Pediatrics or a related field will be an advantage 
  • at least two years of relevant experience, preferably in a healthcare or research organization of good repute
  • excellent knowledge of research methodologies and data analysis techniques
  • excellent clinical and management skills, including the ability to lead a workforce and manage resources effectively.  
  • excellent interpersonal skills, ability to effectively work independently as well as in teams, and establish harmonious working relations at the workplace
  • excellent ability to manage multiple tasks effectively and meet stringent deadlines
  • ability to assess critical situations and give analytical solutions
  • ability to teach juniors and contribute to their training and development
  • excellent written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present complex ideas and information in clear
  • and meaningful form to various stakeholders
  • proficiency in scientific grant writing work for international and national agencies
  • proficiency in the use of computer applications, particularly MS Office and other relevant software packages for data entry and analysis
  • willingness to work at field sites and national and international travel as per project needs
  • demonstrated scholarly output in terms of scientific papers, presentations and reports.
